I don't have 2021 and don't recall the various issues that people reported about it. So the question I would have if whether or not any or all of these issues were fixed in 2022?
That's hard to answer without specifics. And, when an issue occurs not everyone experiences it. I would suggest downloading a trial to see if it meets your needs.
I'm afraid, Kathy, that isn't helpful. Many other software developers will provide a list of "fixes" in the newest releases along with a "What's New" list. Corel should be providing that so people don't have to download a trial (which, by the way, I don't believe is available at the moment) just to see if an important issue in the previous version has been fixed.
The "specifics" of issues have been posted here in the past. I thought perhaps that some members who have experience with 2021 and are now using 2022 would be aware of previous issues and let the board know whether they had been fixed. Just a thought.
Joe, the list of fixes will be provided. But not while the rollout is still at the stage where only current PSP users get the chance of buying the next version. It's not on their website yet. There isn't even a trial version yet. Once they go public, the "fixes" will be listed and compared to the previous version, I would assume.
I have mentioned one issue that, for me, still isn't fixed: the text tool that will be a selection, rather than a vector layer. I usually have to de-select the text, delete the layer and start again, making sure the text will be added as a vector. I keep forgetting to check first and Corel forgot as well.
I will have a look tomorrow and see if there are any other issues I can find that was a problem in PSP 2021 or earlier and hasn't been fixed with this version.
But it is still very early days for this new version. So far it seems stable. Where PSP 2021 64-bits wouldn't shut down, except from the task manager, that issue seems to have been fixed. So that's an improvement.
Thanks @Zantara. I really can't understand why Corel will wait to post a list of fixes until the general public gets to try out a Trial version before deciding to purchase, but for current users they are hoping you'll purchase the new version without a trial (except the 30 return policy) without at least letting them know if they fixed the issues that had affected their current version. Surely Corel knows what they fixed and what they didn't? So why not warn current users and potential early purchasers now? Makes no sense to me!
@Zantana, I don't see that issue in 2021 on my side. It always defaults to my last used value. And when originally using it, it's always set to vector. Do you scripts at all? Sometimes a script will change the last used value of a tool as a result of using the script.
Also can you point to where they identified bugs fixed in PSP 2021? I can't find that information. I remember one time they advertised "Over 50 additional fixes" as a selling point but I was never able to get an actual list of previous bugs fixed. They will list several major bugs that they feel like advertising when they release patches but I'm not familiar with seeing it in just a general release.
The 2022 help documents are already available to read online. And I also cannot find a reference in there. (Just open up the online help documents for 2021 and change "v23" to "v24" in the url to see it)
I realize that Ken, I'm referring to allowing other people who haven't bought 2022 yet who want to read the help files and see if they offer any hints as to what bug fixes have been made. Naturally, 2022 would point to the correct version right off the bat.
Naturally, 2022 would point to the correct version right off the bat.
Naturally, that would be the presumption. But two days ago I got promotional emails from Corel for PSP 2022, and clicking on the links took me -- in both emails -- to a price list for PSP 2021. I passed the emails to a somewhat embarassed Corel exec.
And the release date of PSP 2021 was 30.07.2020.
You have access to the Help section of your PSP after install, and can download the Userguide as a pdf from PSP itself.
But the Helpfile is brought out later, as you can see.
And...uhm...I remember a fixlist and can't find it anywhere any more.
That's odd -- last week I got a loyalty offer of US$66 -- which is definitely much lower than the NZ$134 in Jean-Luc's link. It would have been around NZ$90. (The Australian price worked out at A$85 since that is what I paid. It included GST.) And it was definitely for the Ultimate version.
The loyalty link jumps to different areas of the server. When you launch it from Google with the simple link I proposed, you get a price. When you click on it from inside PSP when the popup window appears (usually, when you close PSP), the link is more complex and you get another price:
@Jean-Luc, I used your link. It takes me to the Dutch Corel page and then the offer is € 69,99 for the Ultimate Upgrade https://www.paintshoppro.com/nl/product ... /ultimate/
If I click on the upgrade option from within PSP 2021, the price is € 54,99. https://store.paintshoppro.com/1184/pur ... nt=upgrade
When I Google (or rather use DuckDuckGo) I get to the same page you linked to.
If I go to Corel.com and then search for PaintShop Pro 2022, I am send to the same page you linked to.
So it seems cheaper to upgrade through a previous version?
Btw...it seems startup is a little faster than PSP 2021. Starts up in 14 seconds. Not bad.

I also think it is faster. On a freshly booted computer, it opens in 24 seconds, which may not see fast to many of you, but is much faster than earlier versions which can take up to a full minute to open to full usability. Reopening within the same boot session takes 12 seconds.
