Has anybody tried this as of yet (maybe beta testers)? Shows some new stuff but not sure if they are a reason to upgrade.

You'll need to make your own mind up as to whether the new bells and whistles add anything to the performance of PSP itself, or whether they are really separate programs, even though you can open them from within PSP. I for instance tend to stick with PSP Complete, and will probably never use Sea-to-Sky (and never did in PSP 2021). Others, of course, may find some of these things useful. Some of the new AI features, though appear to work well, even if a bit fiddly to start with.

If you do, however, buy PSP 2022, just be aware that when installing, the offer to install both the 32 and 64 bit versions (which we would still recommend) is no longer at the top of the list, but in the middle. So if you want both versions, just be careful there.

I like the new Frame tool. I make a lot of collages and it is handy for that. I needed their tutorial to get it, though. It's not intuitive.
Loading time is the same as PSP 2021.
Still have to load my own workspace file when switching from Photography to Complete.
Icons for 32-/64-bits are very, very, similar to the previous versions 2020 and 2021. Not so handy if you have more than one version linked in your taskbar
Image
From left to right: PSP 2020 32-bit - PSP 2021 64- and 32-bits and to the right 2022 32-bits. Spot the difference.

I was looking forward to using the camcorder app, but so far it won't load.
Aftershot is still version 3
Painter Essentials now version 8
Highlight Reel is a userfriendly app to make a quick mp4 file from stills with instant effects.

Apart from the Frame tool, after a few hours I haven't discovered much new yet. But still early days.
If you do, however, buy PSP 2022, just be aware that when installing, the offer to install both the 32 and 64 bit versions (which we would still recommend) is no longer at the top of the list, but in the middle. So if you want both versions, just be careful there.
True...good tip!
Image
In Dutch, but still shows the location.

Oh...and in the Dutch version, there is no Adjust > Artificial Intelligence menu????? If I switch to English...there it is. How is that for the French version?
English version
English version
Dutch version. Should be under the Color option
Dutch version. Should be under the Color option
It turns out that the function File > Embed image is also missing in the Dutch version. This is the tool to use with the new Frame tool.

Lost in translation?

I really thought I did. Right clicked and chose Complete, just to be on the safe side....and there it is?? No idea in what workspace I was before then. :(

Update...I realised what I did. A beginner's mistake, I warn people for, and now I do it myself. Imported the workspace from PSP 2021. It would have those options there.
I thought I would make it easy for myself, not having to make my own toolbar again etc.

Thanks Jean-Luc...because you mentioned it, I thought to check.

Can anyone tell me if the AI HDR Studio plugin is included in PSP 2022 Ultimate? I've asked 4 different techs at support and no one knows. It's not listed in the "what's included description. For me it's a must. I don't know why they'd offer me early access to a product that they don't seen to know to much about. So please, is there the AI HDR Studio plugin. Like the one in version 2021 ultimate. Thank you.

Thanks, I will probably take a look at the trial version when it comes out to see if this is worth the price of admission.

The AI HDR Studio plugin from PSP 2021 is a standalone .8bf file and should be able to be used in PSP 2022 from your current installation. Just point PSP 2022 at where you currently have it installed.

I find it hard to decide if I should upgrade to 2022. Seems to me to be a bit underhelming as an update. There is now plenty of bells and whistles isn PSP like essential, sea to sky, etc. etc I will never touch more than once. In my view a thorough workover of the complete workspace would have been a smarter effort for the developers.

OK, the AI auto bokeh stuff looks nice for portraits, but how precise is it? And how natural is the results? The AI background replacement also looks fine, but probably not something I would do very often. I think I would have preferred a sky replacement tool...

Anyway, I will probably upgrade someday, but maybe I should wait for PSP 2023?

I see similar.
I miss detailed presentation of a new useful features, something like Adobe does to Photoshop for a couple of years - https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/whats-new.html :D

First impression is that it seems to open faster but that is yet to be seen. Windows 11 is just around the corner and it is focused on 64 bit archetecture. I would recommend against installing the 32 bit portion as it will most likely reduce efficiency in processing, but if you have older add-ons they may not work without installing both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. Keep in mind, the writing is on the wall, 32 bit processing is being phased out. Personally I prefer to remove any obstacles that could cause future compatibility issues with Windows 11.

My pc has had the Windows check and it is ready for Windows 11. It just over a year old.
I have both the 32-bits and the 64-bits of PSP 2022 (and older versions) installed as I get questions on a daily basis about the old plug-ins. Some of them are still 16-bits and working.
I don't seem to have a problem with the new version. Startup time is 14 seconds for me. I must admit, I seldom use those plug-ins myself. But they have to work (or not) for me to be able to answer questions about them.

I can see your point, especially if you use PSP for photo-editing only, but in the Dutch speaking psp-world PSP is used for a different purpose to make creations with picture tubes. It's a different world.
Most old plug-ins haven't been updated by their writers to 64-bits. Mehdi, Roseman and Redfield are exceptions.
Corel still ships PSP 2022 with the KTP-collection, which is 32-bits only, btw.

I don't have 2021 and don't recall the various issues that people reported about it. So the question I would have if whether or not any or all of these issues were fixed in 2022?

That's hard to answer without specifics. And, when an issue occurs not everyone experiences it. I would suggest downloading a trial to see if it meets your needs.
