Preparing image for gallery wrap on canvas print

Post by Dale »

I use Paintshop 2021 Ultimate and want to print my images on canvas , using a gallery wrap. This mirrors or stretches the borders of the image so it wraps around the wooden frame without losing any of the original image. I know this is possible in CorelDraw, but I can't afford $250 for this feature. Has anyone figured out how to do it in PaintShop Ultimate?

I know nothing about gallery wraps, but looking at a video tutorial for how it's done in Photo-Paint and the end result you could do it with selections and layers. You're going to want to know the stretch amount for the canvas. Is it 50mm or 2 inches. You'll want to know that ahead of time so you can calculate how many pixels you need on each edge of the image.

1) Image -> Canvas Size
You're going to be adding the same amount of data to both sides of the image, centering the image on the newly sized canvas. Choose the measurement you want to expand the canvas by (Pixels, CMs, Inches, MM) and then add the size to your total width and height. For example let's say the Canavas Wrap is supposed to be 2 inches. I add 4 inches to the Width and Height and then I hit the center placement button to tell PSP to keep the image in the center.

2) Using the rectangular selection tool, make a rectangle the size of new blank area of the canvas.

3) Move the selection outline to cover the image

4) Promote selection to layer

5) Repeat on every edge.

6) For the corners, make a selection the size of the corner, select from one of the adjacent strips, promote selection to layer and move new layer into place.

7) Merge all
