Normally and for many years I used PowerDirector and now have version 14 so I am not a massive user but I find it very easy to use.
I do have a YouTube Channel and upload from time to time.
However, I just tried to play a video taken on my Panasonic G9 on .MOV with Bit depth is 10 bits and Chroma sampling is 4:2:2 and it will not play - at least no video - only audio.
I asked and their Forum says I will need to convert this file so that I can use it on PD14. (No idea what to convert it to yet or even how!)
So I thought I would try to use Corel Video Studio 19 (I thought I had a much more recent version than that but hey, time flies when you are not in lockdown!).
Now I must say that I find your software editing program VERY HARD to use! But eventually I managed to download the Full HD video clip in question (10bit 4 2 2) and put it on the timeline and play it back!
Your software plays it ok and theirs doesn't! I find that simply astonishing!
Then I tried to get the backing music downloaded from my PC but try as I did I failed! I have NO IDEA AT ALL how to download this music track.
WHY IS IT SOOOOOO DIFFICULT?
Phil.

Re: Importing Digital Media to Video Studio 2019
Good to hear that Mov 10 bit is accepted by Video Studio
To import any type of digital video / audio / image file simply right click the library or Timeline for Insert Media Files
If you are using the library then you may be best to create a new library folder, press the Add+ icon at the top of the Media Library
From the library we can either drag and drop or right click the clip for “Insert to” options.

Re: Importing Digital Media to Video Studio 2019
Trying to use the Import from Digital Media box/window is just about the worst thing I have ever seen.
It is virtually impossible to use.
However, totally by chance I did manage to get the music track downloaded and put on the Music track.
Then I face the task of being able to play both the Music Track AND the video track.
Yet another task which seems impossible as you can only play one or the other.

Just below the preview screen, you should see small buttons -- one labelled 'Clip' and the other labelled "Project". Click on Project, and now you should be able to play both video and audio as that is your "Project". If set to clip, it just plays whichever clip is clicked on and active.

To insert clips...
If you find it easier you can always open your folder using windows explorer then drag and drop into the library or timelines

You're not talking to Corel, rather, this is a forum of users who voluntarily give of their time to answer questions. So if you want to provide your feedback to Corel on THEIR software, then you should contact Corel directly.Phil47 wrote: Now I must say that I find your software editing program VERY HARD to use! ... X9 came out 5 versions and 5 years ago in 2016. Things have changed over that period of time. You can download a trial version of VS2021 and see if it works better for you.Phil47 wrote:I would try to use Corel Video Studio 19
You can simply drag and drop most file types directly onto the timeline from Explorer.Phil47 wrote:Trying to use the Import from Digital Media box/window is just about the worst thing I have ever seen.

Re: Importing Digital Media to Video Studio 2019
That's really only for importing clips from a DVD or Blu-Ray disc (Digital Media). It can be complicated, yes, but after a couple of tries it becomes easy enough. Just like almost anything on a new program...Phil47 wrote:Trying to use the Import from Digital Media box/window is just about the worst thing I have ever seen.

Re: Importing Digital Media to Video Studio 2019
I suggested you “simply right click the library or Timeline for Insert Media Files”
Insert Digital Media as Ken mentioned is more complex than you need
Insert Media Files is what would work, confusing with the wording being similar.
