Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
I have even referred to a video tutorial. When I select the 2 videos then multi cam icon, it does not make those 2 as sources. I can get by that by selecting Manage Sources and add them.
But after having it set up ans playing and having it put shots from each video back and forth a couple times (I synched with audio...looks right), lets say i want to use that.
I click on OK expecting to find the multi cam created in the list of videos, and it is not there.
Am I doing something wrong, or is 2020 buggy?

can you update your profile to show using VS 2020 as it indicated X9
This is how I open MCCE
1 / Video Studio – Start a new project- Create a new library folder and import my videos to be used in MCCE
2 / Assuming I have 2 recordings, drag the main video to the timeline, this should “show the messages” to match the video to the properties, I believe its important to set the correct frame rate.
Now clear the timelines.
3 / I Select both library clip – right click - I see an option for Multi-Camera Editor, this opens the MCCE Source Manager with the clips already inserted, do you see that?
4 / At the top I update / change the Project Name
5/ select OK to open the MCCE
6 / as a quick test- I chose a couple of camera angles to fill the top track
7 / OK will close MCCE and return to VS timelines, a thumbnail will be placed in the library showing the project name.vsp as in 4 above
8 / Drag this to the timelines to continue editing.
How far do you get with that process

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
I appreciate your help. I will update my sig.
That is exactly the method I used. Interestingly, this morning it worked with some caveats:
The above reflects my first attempt. You will notice that while there are 2 videos below, only 1 shows up in the upper left. I closed and tried again a couple times, and finally they both showed up.
When running it to place the different portions on the timeline, the video wouldn't show up for a bit, then finallyl did, but it was acting like the laptop was a 1995 version. Not in step, and very slow. But this is a brand new Lenovo, I7 with 16GB of memory.
I have stepped through a couple times, with various hiccups, but am getting the job done one very short files at this point.

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
Just another comment: This is pretty useless. I'm having the picture not show up in the video window.

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
So you are using VS X9 and not 2020 as in your first post
MCE...
the cursor / play head needs to be over the actual video clip.
If you play the timelines then both clips will show
If you move the cursor 1 frame to the right both clips should show.
Your image shows using Mov and Mp4, I assume both clips are using the same frame rate.
Clicking the wave form icon to the left of the timeline scale will show the wave form of both clips giving a good idea that both are in sync.
MCE may have been updated over the years, I do have X10 installed so will now check details using that.

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
I checked, and they are not the same frame rate. I'll have to figure out how to best get them to match and try again.
Am am getting it to work now, but it's a round about process. One problem that remains, the transisions are only working from one side of the video. I bet frame rate is a problem there too.
I'll post back what I find.
I appreciate your help.

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
Hi
Providing there is no gaps on the MCE top timelines the A/B transition should spread over the two clips.
Just tested and those work ok, I will double check using 2021, don’t have 2020 installed
The different frame rates should not affect the transitions, If you have any audio sync issues then frame rates could be an issue.

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
Thanks so much for your effort and help.
Gaps is something I am creating. I found that if there are two segments, with a gap, that you need to put the transition at the end if the first, and also at the beginning of the second.
All seems to be working for me.
Oh, BTW, It looks like with two different frame rates thay aren't synching good. So, I'm running both through the same write routing to be sure frame rates are good.
Thanks again for you input. Much appreciated.

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
Applying transitions in MCE works better between two clips
If you apply to a separate clip then the crossfade will show black then fade-in.
I do not know of a solution other than using A/B on the main timeline after finishing MCE, but then that may affect audio sync depending on the audio source

Re: Vid Stud 2020 - Multi Cam not working
You are correct, it will affect synch.
For a gap it works ok if you put one at the end of the clip on the ledge, and at the beginning on the right
