Thanks Trevor
My (main for this project) video library contains 352 video clips in one folder and 118 video clips in another folder maybe I should have created separate libraries for each maybe. Yes a lot but this was from a 10 day tour which has a rendered output which runs for 26 minutes - I wanted the entire tour on one as I copy to usb memory stick (if I outputted to a DVD I could have created separate chapters for each day). All files are on internal hdd (I thought that they were on an ssd). Total filesize for all clips is 15Gb and my edited rendered video is 4.8Gb.
Yes all my video clips (from my lovely Panasonic camcorder) are mt4 - maybe I could in the future consider doing a mass rename to mp4? I need to rename the rendered output from mt4 to mp4 for playback in my video player.
I guess having a thumbnail of the rendered video might benefit some people but not myself.
I will try doing your suggestions another time but for now I have finished with VS maybe for a long time unfortunately with the current lockdowns here in Australia preventing travel (we were to go on an 18 day tour of north west West Australia on 8 August (booked 12 months ago) but that will have to be postponed until next year now). I fear that with this new Delta strain life may never be the same. My wife and I have just had our second and final AZ vaccination but that doesn't stop you getting it just not as bad.
Keep safe

If you have completed your project then testing the library is probably the right time to do this.
Even if it means re-installing the program at least it should be working for your next projects.
If you are concerned in loosing your work you can try using Smart Packages, that will save all clips / video used in the project to a new folder.
And if we wish can then delete the original files to save space.
As for the library content 21 minutes of footage is not big as video goes and I have certainly used similar
I load up my X10 to see if I have problems and let you know
But as I say now is the time to fix things when you do not have a project to do.

Re: VS takes 90 seconds to load
For what its worth……
I have just loaded my X10 library with 650 clips spread over 11 folders
Some 50 Gb of files all MTS with a few VSP project files
Loading the library has not made any difference in the launch times of the program
For me the program launches to be active in approx. 10 seconds.
If your library is the issue then it is a corrupt or problem file not just the amount of clips being used.

Re: VS takes 90 seconds to load
Thanks Trevor for the time you have spent testing.
I would consider that the library is corrupt except for the fact that sometimes the VS startup is short (10+ seconds) and other times l o n g (100+ seconds).
I will just keep an eye on it. I now have no need for that library as my project is complete apart from perhaps tweaking it a little so maybe I will delete the library and if I can be bothered (I don't need it any more) recreate it.

The quickest way to remove the library is to do a library reset
Otherwise do a program reset, this is done simply by renaming the 20.0 folder to 20.0_old
You can then check the start times and if you wish reset the library back to the old one by re-naming the folders again.
Some details here
http://lata.me.uk/corel/reset/reset.htm
But as I said the easiest way is Settings – Library Manager – Reset although that would be final.

Re: VS takes 90 seconds to load
Thanks Trevor
FYI In this last video I have added 'track motion' to have an arrow shape follow an object in a video clip which is difficult to see (a Johnson River crocodile sunning itself on a similarly coloured rock as the boat I was in glided past). It's a great feature and easy to use. Should have been using it before.
