fade in for clips not working in VS 2020

Post by Mark Swanson »

Ok, all of a sudden I have issues with fading in a clip on an overlay track. This is a very simple function but I use it a lot, and all of a sudden it will not work, the clip remains invisible all the time if I select a fade-in option. It will not "roll in" either, but it will move in if I select that. If I go into "Advanced Motion", and set it up to fade the clip in and out the program freezes, so I cannot use that function anymore either and that is a really important part of my work flow. Help!

I should say that I have run a "repair program" on VS2020, and I got no joy, and so I deleted and re-installed the program, no fix.

If you have used this regularly, and it now stopped working, can you identify when it stopped working?? Specifically, did it stop after you did a windows update??

Mark
There was an issue some time ago where the images were transparent, not sure of the full details but feel masks were involved although thought this had been fixed.

Can you tell us the version number of your program to make sure you are working with the latest version, I see 23.3.0.646
Can you tell us what type of files you are using? Is the problem specific to one type of file?

If you were to use the library samples do you have problems
You mention Advanced Motion, I assume you are plying Customise motion to create the fade in – out
I have attached a smart package with a fade effect applied to an image to keep the file size low to attach here, this is using Customise Motion.

First, thank you all for the help! I found the problem... it was a setting in "Project Properties", I had a Project Profile that was way different from the frame rates of the clips. I changed to a better fit and the troubles were gone! My fault, sorry to bother you and I thank you for your help.
