Sometimes this is caused by Roxio, Nero, or other "packet writing" software hyjacking your DVD driver. If you have regular burning software on you system, you can use it to copy the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders to the DVD. Or, you can try disabling the conflicting software.

That's not it. I am having the same problem. DVDMF gets to the last phase of its burn cycle with the upper thermometer at 100% and the lower one at 0% and never starts to burn. The DVD drive never starts. I have the same problem with VIdeo Studio 9. When trying to reboot, I see that Ulead Data Add is unable to be stopped. What is this?

Open up "My Computer"
Right-Click on the dvd recorder and read the menu options.
Is there any other packet writing software you see in that drop-down menu?
You should see Data-Add. Can't use it though unless you have already formatted a disc using the "Format Dvd" screen (One of the bottom Icons on the opening splash screen).

Ever since I removed Nero InCD MF4 works much better. The only packet writing software on the machine is Data-Add. I use to always use InCD, started using Data-Add and found it to work quite well. Even has a verify disk feature that InCD doesn't have.

Also still have the main program Nero 6.6 installed and use both MF4 and Nero to burn. No problems.
Since some people have problems are others aren't I wonder if the Make & Model of the dvd burner & media may be the cause.
Mine are Sony 501a and an external 700.

Here's what I see when I follow your directions:

Well all I see on that menu relating to DataAdd is "DataAdd Format Disc..." so I guess there must be a way to format outside the Format DVD screen. And I am unsure of what program you mean??? Splash screen? For what?

Confused... What does this have to do with DVDMF's burn stuff???????

Is "packet writing software" something like Drag to Disk? If so, then I have that too, right? I don't want to uninstall it! It''s very useful. Are you saying that DVDMF's burning software requires that you have no other "packet writing software" installed? Can this be true? I have no problems burning with Camtasia Studio, for instance, even though Drag to Disk is installed and available...

Bob,
On that screen it's showing conflicting software.
Ulead Data-Add
Drag to Disk
Not sure about "Write these files to CD"
Not sure about "4NT prompt here"
Not sure about "Windows Grep"
Not sure about "Browse with ACDSee"

Since you really want to use 'Drag To Disk" then I would uninstall Ulead
Data-Add via "Control_Panel -> Add/Remove Software". Leave MF installed. Data-Add is the same as Drag To Disk. Pick one.
If you installed "Quick-Drop" uninstall that also. Not needed.
(not sure if some of the other programs listed can conflict, not familiar with those).

If MF still gives you problems burning then create an ISO image file on the harddisk and burn the image file using Roxio software. That method usually always works when having problems.

Hope this helps,

WOO HOO!!! That did it! Removing DataAdd allows UVS9 and DVDMF4 to burn! Thanks VERY VERY much! How in the hell did you figure that out???

Anyway, THANKS!!!!!!
