Vdanny,
I totally agree with you on some of your points and not so much on others. Yes the content you put on your timeline is the most important. Zach Snyder proved that by shooting a short film with an iphone Snow Steam Iron in 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJx54Ikj3ac
Yes anyone can edit doing simple titles, cuts, fades, etc. with various software and achieve the same results using Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, VideoStudio, just like all the pro-end NLEs too BUT none of these consumer-grade software are up to the task in creating full feature films. Let's take Academy Award winning 2019 film Parasite. Not a lot of VFX but the content and story make the movie and edited using older version of Apple's Final Cut Pro 7 and color graded with Resolve.
Now let's look a your computer requirement comment. With Corel I never had smooth playback and would take time buffering scrubbing and jogging the timelime for edit/playback preview. Never had that problem with DaVinci and I am using an Acer Nitro 5 laptop. AND Resolve actually uses GPU hardware acceleration unlike Corel has tried to market for years. For slower computers one can use Optimized media just like Smart Proxy in VideoStudio but I never had to use that feature with my laptop. So I guess looking at computer requirements and using Optimized media or Smart Proxy to handle timeline content we may have different opinions.
Yes VideoStudio Ultimate offers plugins and incredible value to customers at it's price point but spend $295 and you get DaVinci Resolve Studio a feature rich program used in the industry. Yes learning new software can be daunting, that's why I would recommend starting with the free Resolve version. Can one make good-looking content with VideoStudio? Yes, good not great. That's what separates novices and intermediate users from the big boys. Don't see anyone wanting to pursue a career in the pro film or broadcast industry cutting a demo-reel using VideoStudio. If you want to be your best invest the time and learn a pro-end program and it doesn't have to be DaVinci. As I stated in my earlier post Blackmagic is a company that does it's marketing right. Blackmagic is leading the way in becoming the next industry standard NLE by migrating more Apple and Adobe users with it's keyboard and shortcuts integration allowing an easier transition. Why not use DaVinci? It is the standard in color grading. So am I a big time editor, No. BUT having used Ulead/Corel's prosumer marketed product MediaStudio Pro and intermediate NLE VideoStudio Ultimate up to 2018 for years I know it's limitations and that is why I wanted more. So I bettered myself by watching tutorials and reading forum posts on learning Resolve which I am no expert by far hobbyist at best. So my lurking and offering my vast experience when I post is better than most.

So that's a surprise to you? FWIW, most users, perhaps all, on this forum are not creating Academy Award winning films. Furthermore, I'd venture to say that none of the forum users are recording on the ARRI ALEXA 65 camera in the 65mm digital cinema camera, 6.5K Opengate, ARRIRAW format that was used to record the film Parasite.rwernyei wrote: BUT none of these consumer-grade software are up to the task in creating full feature films. In the six year period from 2015 to 2020, you had 6 posts for an average of 1 post/year, specifically in 2020 (0 posts), 2019 (2 posts), 2018 (0 posts), 2017 (0 posts), 2016 (2 posts), and 2015 (2 posts). A review of your 6 posts, doesn't reveal anything that was worthy of your "vast experience", nor do your posts seem "better than most." For example, one of your two posts in 2019 was the very enlightening one word one that said "Definitely" (https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 69#p372469). Of course, this forum would be useless if everyone contributed as little as you did over the 6 year period from 2015 to 2020.rwernyei wrote:So my lurking and offering my vast experience when I post is better than most.
Finally, please be generous and share with us some of your videos that illustrate how DaVinci Resolve Studio would excel for users on this forum. Thank you.

tletter,
As I stated before I was not offering Moderator advice in my post I simply answered your question. I use DaVinci Resolve Studio. You would definitely never be Moderator material because you cannot see beyond your assumptions and directly attacked my answer as a comparison of consumer grade software v. professional grade software. I never made a comparison and called anyone doing so a fool. Admit it you screwed up. Then another attack on how much I post. Did I really trigger you and get you bent? My last comment isn't going to help your complex. Yes I do contribute much less these days but it still in no ways discounts my efforts over the years to this forum. And RobertOZ making a comment about stepping down was uncalled for and laughable. He is an Advisor that contributes almost daily because he's probably retired and enjoys helping others but also made the assumption of comparison and let the bandwagon effect cloud his judgement. Did I offer VideoStudio advice "No", so as an Advisor what he should have done was take my answer at face value and ask for clarification not attack. I too loved Ulead/Corel products and spent many US dollars on their software but had to move on. You can defend the software all you want it is a good value but mediocre at best if you want to create content that will impress. My $.02.
