Hello people of the interwebs,
SO, VS20, can you blur out the background of someone, say in an interview and wanting the background blurred slightly. Aware of 'rack focus' etc not too keen on cutting around subject and feather option as never really works too well..
So, any takers? aware , ideally film it like that, but then your talking larger chip etc in camcorder.
Rack Focus is good - but what i want is a blurred background..

Are you referring to the FX Background Blur filter?
When using a portrait image there is a border to the left and right
Apply FX Background Blur and that border will be filled with similar colours that are blurred

I believe garjobo123 means bokeh. The FX Bg blur just blurs the edges that does not fill the screen.

Yes thats right Cyber, confusing reply frm Lata there - portrait and all. Rack Focus blurs edges etc but what i want is to FULLY blur the background of someone being interviewed. I can only think of using masks - masking the person, using a feather edge to soften...but really i just know that won't look great.

Hi,
If you have the space you can use the maximum zoom on the camcorder with the background as far away from the subject as possible. This would help in getting the bokeh you are looking for. You may need extra light on the subject as the lens may close down as you zoom in. If the distance creates an audio issue record the subject with a separate audio recorder.
