Hello All
So, never an expert, but ive tried and purchased a middle to decent Rode mic and also an overly expensive lapel mic...yea' sure the voice is a little more 'richer' / deeper..but boy o' boy do you get the background hiss!
I've tried and failed to amended in VS when editing...( actually VS ( 2019 and 2020 ) always has a annoying habit of crashing on me whenever you click to amend or amplify or give it an echo etc - but when i can amend sound results are..well..naff to be frank.
Words drop out, the hiss is still there just the voice is now more muted or underwater etc
Audio is as important to video as a picture. Helps engage an audience.
So, any thoughts? i did once download a few of these recommended 'getting rid of background noice / or reducing 'clicks'/ pops in your audio...i think Audcity one of them...but again...you got some effect but it effected other parts too...never a nice clean, crisp sound.
Again welcoming your ideas, suggestions, thoughts.
Rode sound issue - the usual hiss background noise - fixes? VS not up to the job?

I would suggest to edit the sound in a tool like audacity (free tool). Even top level mics need a level of editing in sound.
On the other hand I would suggest to export the audio file from audio editing as wav for better quality and audio sync

Realistically, look towards the Rode mic and whatever it is that you've connected it to. The hiss shouldn't be a big issue! Heck, if a GoPro sounds just about acceptable, then the rode should be great. Check the mic's gain and all that jazz. Maybe it's boosted too much.
I have a Rode NTG4 plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen), to my PC. Absolutely amazing.
Also plugged it into my Nikon.

I'm using a RØDE PodMic into a Cloudlifter then a Scarlett Solo, and don't get any of the hissing that you're mentioning.garjobo123 wrote: So, never an expert, but ive tried and purchased a middle to decent Rode mic and also an overly expensive lapel mic...yea' sure the voice is a little more 'richer' / deeper..but boy o' boy do you get the background hiss!
All my sound editing, save for ducking, is in Audacity.garjobo123 wrote:I've tried and failed to amended in VS when editing...( actually VS ( 2019 and 2020 ) always has a annoying habit of crashing on me whenever you click to amend or amplify or give it an echo etc - but when i can amend sound results are..well..naff to be frank.
VS introduces sound blips and has done so for years (see https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?f ... ound+blips). Audacity can remove these blips, but it shouldn't be necessary if VS was fixed.garjobo123 wrote:i did once download a few of these recommended 'getting rid of background noice / or reducing 'clicks'/ pops in your audio

Thanks all for the replies, sad to read VS is against us on the sound issue.
Ive recorded a fair few interviews for the project im doing, depending on the environment some are ..ok in regards to sound...some..definately have the bacground hiss type noise...and i did my best regards to settings.
I have found when using Audicity, taking a sample pice and then asking it to remove all the 'hissing' etc...that.it also takes off the voice..well the voice becomes lets clearer...so...im surprised so many people all hail programmes like audiocity.
It is what is is...if there is a better way please let me know though

Audacity being an audio editor is much better than Video Studio at managing the sound files.
Given that Audacity is free it does an excellent job.
If Audacity is having problems in correcting the sounds then I would say that Video Studio has no chance, After all it is a dedicated Video Editor with capabilities to edit the sounds by applying some filters.
Please do not beat up Video Studio for the poor audio recordings it has been given.

If you provide a sample of a voice recording with the hiss, then people can try removing the hiss and let you know the results.garjobo123 wrote: Ive recorded a fair few interviews for the project im doing, depending on the environment some are ..ok in regards to sound...some..definately have the bacground hiss type noise...
