SOLVED - Print orientation problem.

Post by jimbir »

This should be simple but I can't figure it out. I created a new color image 4 inches high by 5 inches wide. It's now ready to print. I want to use some 4" x 6" card stock. No matter what orientation I set the printer to, the printed image is not correctly oriented even though it looks correct the print preview.
Can someone help me with this problem?

Try this:
Rotate the image inside PSP before printing.

Does this happen with other programs? A recent Windows update produced some weird results when printing.

EDIT: do you print using the Print Layout menu?

I've rotated the image in PSP and I've tried printing directly from PSP and using the print layout menu.

And are you saying that doing these things does not fix the issue?

If so, have you saved the image after rotating it, then opened the saved image and tried printing that copy?

That said, what information is showing in Image Information regarding the width and height in inches for the original image and the saved rotated image as suggested above?

Did you also print using the simple Print Menu ?
Is your printer set on landscape or Portrait mode?

Problem solved. First, thank you all for your replies and suggestions.

It wasn't an orientation problem. It was more of an image size - printer quirk - and file card size. The image was 4 inches high and so was the height of the file card. The printer quirk is, that whenever it prints an image it includes a .16 inch non-printable area on all sides of it which normally doesn't matter if the image is smaller than the paper it's being printing it on. When I tried to print a 4 inch high image on a 4 inch high card, the quirk caused part of the top of the image to be cut off. Reducing the height of the image by .32 inches (.16 x 2) solved that problem. Since the length of the card was 6 inches the image printed correctly but being .16 inches offset from the end of the card. When working with file cards, I'll have to remember to include the quirk in my image calculations.
