Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
Hi,
I'm new to VideoStudio. I created my first video with music and adjusted the music's volume using audio ducking, fade in/out and adjusting manually. Now, when I save the project as an MP4 or other film format these changes are not saved. The music stays at the same volume throughout the whole clip.
Please help! What am I doing wrong?
Thank you!!!

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
Welcome to the forum.
First off, though, you need to tell us which version of Video Studio you are using. It would also be very useful to know what the properties are of the input video and audio, and those of the output video mp4. To get the first lot of properties you can right click on a video or audio clip in the timeline and select Properties.

Thanks Ken,
I'm using Corel VideoStudio 2021.
The input video is mp4:
Video type: H.264 Main Profile-Video
Attributes: 24 Bit, 1280 x 720, 16:9
Fram Rate: 29.970 frames/sec
Data rate: 292 kbps
Audio Type: MPEG AAC-Audio
Atrributes: 44100Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
Bit rate: 128 kbps
The Music file is an MP3
Attributes: 44100Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
Level: 3
Bitrate: 320 kbps
I tried to save it in various formats and it didn't work once. I chose for example same settings as in project:
NTSC Drop-Bild (29,97 fps)
MPEG-4-Dateien
24 Bit, 640 x 360, 29.97 fps
Bild-basiert
H.264 Main Profile-Video: 245 kbps, 16:9
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC-Audio: 96 kbps
Or: MPEG-4
24 Bit, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Bild-basiert
H.264 High Profile-Video: 15000 kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC-Audio: 192 kbps
But also in WMV
Thanks!

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
If you simply wish to reduce the overall volume level then Audio Ducking is not what you need.
Changing the Volume level from 100% or working in the Sound Mixer should do what you want.
I assume you have muted the volume of the video file.
Then using the sound file on the music track you are trying to reduce that volume.
I run a test,
Import the sound file MP3 to the music track, I trimmed the clip to 30 seconds, then cut the sound clip into two 15 second sections
First I use the 100% level options.
Double clicking my clip to open the options panel, I see a Music and Voice tab containing a few volume level adjustments.
The speaker used to mute, the 100% can be set from zero to 500%, and Fade In Fade Out ramps
Alternatively – I right click my clip for other volume options, I see Adjust Volume and Fade In Audio etc.
Sound Mixer
Selecting the second clip I reduced the volume by using the Sound Mixer, lowest level I can use is -36
I can see the level line being lowered on the clip, has to be in Project Playback mode when changing the slider.
I then used Share – Audio – choosing Wav, this rendered the project to create another sound file, a thumbnail being placed in the library
Dragging the new clip to the voice track also shows the wave form for the first 15 seconds and a flat line for the second half.
I repeated the test using the 100% volume option, reducing that to 30 % then finally to 0% created the flat line.
All render tests retained the new volume levels, I rendered to Wav and MP4 video

Hi Trevor,
Thanks so much for your reply. I'm trying to follow your steps, but I get stuck at "I then used Share – Audio – choosing Wav," I can't find where to do this... can you please give me a hint? Thanks a lot!

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
I think I got it. Let me check if it works now! Thanks.
Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
No, sorry - so, I saved the audio track as wav file, but the volume adjustments are not saved... I'm going crazy. Why is it so complicated to save the video with the adjustments of the sound-mixer?

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
I chose the Share – Audio option as that is much easier to render making the tests a little quicker, the Wav option being my preferred format.
Once you have proven that the volume settings are working you can now apply to your existing project, then use Share to render to a video file, Same as Project or Same as First Clip.
I have attached a screen shot using Sound Mixer
Personally I do not like using the sound Mixer and usually change the 100% levels.

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
Ok when you adjust the Sound Mixer Slider you have to be in Project Mode if the Clip is selected then the levels will NOT change
To select the actual track we click the icon to the left of the vertical slider.
We can play the project, whilst playing drag the slider down to reduce the volume, you will see the track sound level change.
If you wish to return to original levels, a right click on the sound clip for Reset Volume, for the video its right click Audio – Reset Volume.
But I do agree that the Sound Mixer could be easier to use, hence my preference in using the 100% option

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
Hi Trevor,
Thanks for your help. I managed to adjust the volume levels and I can play them in VideoStudio. The problem is that I cannot "Share" (export) without these adjustments being lost. So in the end I saved the project without music and added the music track in another program. Annoying, because it was more difficult in the other program...
It seems like there is some kind of bug in the software... maybe because I'm still using the 30 day test version?

Re: Can't export sound-mixer adjustments
Hi
All tests I performed included rendering to MP4 video in each case the audio levels were used correctly.
If your mp3 audio files are using the Lame codec then that may cause issues for Video Studio.
A free program called Media Info should give you the full details of your file.
I tested using the library samples, the first clip “applause” that also worked ok, can you try using that clip. If this works ok then I would suspect the audio file, the easiest is to convert the mp3 to wav, then use wav in your project.
Can you try this.....from your Project – Share choose “same as first video clip” or “Same as Project” option,
Now deselect “Smart Render” this will take a little longer to complete but does that improve your audio.
