sRGB working space

sRGB working space
Does anyone know why PSP recommends sRGB as the color working space ... and is any problem using Adobe RGB instead?
Re: sRGB working space
I'm not sure, but I think not all features are available when the color-space is not sRGB.

I don't believe color working space effects what features are available. At least I have never seen features vanish.
sRGB is simply a near universal standard. If you want adobe change the working space to use Adobe. You won't lose anything it's just a color space.

Re: sRGB working space
I found a couple of articles that explain some differences between Adobe RGB and sRGB:
https://petapixel.com/2009/09/17/why-yo ... -use-srgb/
https://fstoppers.com/pictures/adobergb-vs-srgb-3167
If you look hard enough you'll find enough threads here that advise you to not use PSP's colour management because it's just not good at it. In that case Corel's advice is probably right.

Re: sRGB working space
Thanks to all for your replies. I understand the differences between sRGB and Adobe RGB. I have used sRGB format for a long while because I was posting my work on the internet. Recently I have been considering printing some of my work and would like to work in a totally managed workflow using Adobe RGB as the colorspace, and if PSP's color management is an issue I may need to consider other options. This is the reason for my query.

Re: sRGB working space
As I said ... I am planning to print much of my work now. That is the reason I would like to work in the wider gamut of Adobe RGB colorspace. My printers and monitors can handle Adobe RGB. I am aware that posting images to the web in that colorspace has consequences as to color rendition with most web user's monitors. In that case I would export the image as a sRGB JPG. I will use my Asus ProArt monitor for the Adobe colorspace when working with my photo editing, and my other monitor will be set up for sRGB for all other work. My graphics card will allow for two distinct monitors and setup.

Re: sRGB working space
I gave up on PSP color management long ago and there's no reason to believe they'll ever fix it. The best printing solution is to use Qimage. There are also many other image editors that do color management correctly.

Re: sRGB working space
PSP does OK with sRGB. Never had a problem with that. I believe, though I don't have definitive proof, that it doesn't do the printer conversions properly with larger color spaces, say ProPhoto. I've posted about this before but found most people weren't able to follow instructions sufficiently well to see the issue. The solution is to buy the inexpensive Qimage and use that for printing. Possibly the problem only exists with my Canon printer, but I don't know. If you want to experiment, start with these sites- http://www.gballard.net/photoshop/pdi_download/ and http://www.outbackphoto.com/printingins ... essay.html I highly recommend the test image at the latter site but be sure to read everything on both sites before using the images.
