VS 2021 crashing when choosing video mask ( blending panel )

Hi guys.... When in Matte Modes > Video Mask in Blending panel, I can't see the other squares and lines of samples .... as the side bar indicates there are more down there, but when I try to click, my VS crashes after some seconds... I show in the attachment what I see in my VS ...

By the way, the first one I see in movement and I can apply in my timeline, but the second and third icons don't show movement ( and are they really similar? or their icon are bugged too ? )

Can anyone share a image of what you see in that same panel ?

Sorry you are experiencing these crashes.
I believe the problem is caused by first adding a file as a mask then subsequently deleting the file from the hard drive.
If we use the – minus symbol to remove the mask then we do not get a crash.

Unfortunately I did not find any way to fix this other than to re-install the program
and yes i understand the comment "I can't see the other squares and lines of samples .... as the side bar indicates there are more down there"

If you have deleted the mask files then they may be in the recycle bin, restoring those could help, a long shot.

Earlier versions of video studio does not have this issue, deleted files simply disappear from the blending panel with no problems or crashes.

Tomorrow I will try to replicate this problem and try my thoughts on restoring the files from the recycle bin.

You should report this to Corel Support, I will be doing the same.

Yeah, I was considering a complete re-install , as the Repair didn't change anything and error kept happening.

But I'm not having luck this week ... My uninstall is not working properly ... I was about to ask about a Cleanup tool, but I see it is not available since VS 2020 ... I'm going to try with other cleanup tools and/or Windows %temp% clean and registry checkup.

If you have some hint to do that cleanup in a safer/faster way, to be able to Re-install later as if VS never was in the machine, I would appreciate too.

Fast Update: I used IObit Unistaller and seemed VS was 100% cleaned from system ...

But, when installing again ( from the ''VideoStudio2021_Online.exe'' program ) , things started to go normal, and then after 1 or 2 minutes I''m having repeatedly Error message in screen ( attached ) . After clicking 'ok' it gets back after short time ( I guess for each of the installing sub-packages ), and in the end I have a different Error message ( attached )

You do seem to be having your far share of problems

Can you try downloading the installation files as new then re-installing the program again.
By running the ''VideoStudio2021_Online.exe” should give the option to remove the program.
Then go to
C:\Users\trevo\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\24.0
Rename the folder “24.0” to “24.0 _old”

Run the ''VideoStudio2021_Online.exe” again
After adding the serial number and accepting the various panels, EULA and Registration etc. choose “An Installation Option” as “Custom”
Now choose another Download location, choosing a new empty folder
Download Video Studio as new installation files, install video studio using these new files.

Attached is a sample image of the download panel, its for 2020 but is the same for 2021

Maybe I should have asked if you have applied the latest service pack.

Referring to the original problem, I have tried to replicate this issue however the program for me no longer crashes, I can only assume this issue has been fixed using the patched version of 2021
When I select the missing masks they are simply removed from the list, which is to be expected, with no crashes.
So once you have managed to re-install the program we can test this again.

Strangely, the folder '' \AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\ '' doesn't exist ( anymore) here. Before and after the installation attempt, it doesn't show up.

I changed the download destination folder and the installation folder ( the third option I could not change) ... it downloaded all again, but during install, same error still happening, for each package.

I also manually deleted '' C:\Program Files\Corel '' folder, that had only 2 subfolders
'' C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2021\ScoreFitter\Plugins\HyperOEM '' with just one .ini file
'' C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Content '' , that was already empty

I tried to find something in Registry, but I don't know which ones I can really delete there ( as the Installers and Uninstallers always keep useful things there ).

I could try to replicate the same job the Cleanup tools do, but the log doesn't help much, it only shows the operation results. ( attached ) . Could also try a system 'sniffer' tool to show what happens in system during install, but I don't know any.

I opened a ticket in Support channel, and waiting their response, while I try other things.

Solved my issue ... Deleted VS2021 ( and also VS2019 that was still around ) entries from Windows registry. I just could not delete nor rename those under a sub-folder related to Services ( attached ) , but all the rest was ok.

A little later Support contacted me about a experimental Cleanup tool - I guess will be released in future - but Hotmail server blocked the .exe / .zip .

Now I see everything working as it should. And about the use of Video Mask ( in Blending panel ) , all extra space in that window is gone... There's only one sample there (part of VS, and can't be deleted). I can add others as used to, but from now on, I will add only when needed, and will keep only that one sample there, to avoid future mistakes and causing bug again.

Last night we / Admin tried to send you the cleanup tool with a similar block on sending the file.
Are you saying that you finally downloaded the tool and subsequently ran to remove 2021?
The reason for Corel not making this tool freely available is that it may affect other versions of Video Studio, in your case 2019.

If you did download the 2021 installation files again and used those to install 2021 then you would have installed the upto date program with no need to install the service pack.
For me running the program does not crash when adding masks to the blending mode, It does appear that Corel have fixed this issue.

Good to know that the program is no longer crashing and now appears to be working ok.
If you do experience any crashes please post here or get in touch with Admin.

Post updated regarding crashes when adding images / video to the Blending Matte Modes

Today 6th June I accessed the Blending options again to find Images that i had subsequently used and removed now causes the program to crash
I was hoping that had been fixed as my first tests proved, but not so, I believe the only way to clear the list is by re-installing VS. Dam
