PSP 2021 Plugins

Post by ibcarolyn-2 »

I am sorry if this has been asked. I just bought PSP 2021 and do not see any of my plugins in the folder. I was told that 2021 does not allow most that I should have gone with 2020 or 2019 or just kept my PSP 11
Any and all help is grateful. Thanks Carolyn

They have indeed changed their plugin system a bit, so if your plugins are really old they may not work. That said, many of them still work if you run the 32-bit version of PSP. When installing PSP, you should get an option of installing either the 64-bit version or the 32-bit version, or both (the latter being the default).

Thank you I have done that and no go. I have even chatted with other members in my forumotion groups and they say the same thing. I will hopefully get a refund or sell this and keep with my PSP 9 or 11 and see how that goes. I might buy 2020 as that seems to work lol thanks again

It would also help greatly if you were to mention some of the plugins that you cannot get to work. You never know there may be a work around, or someone else may have that same plugin and find it works correctly.
By just saying plugins don't work that is like saying to a Dr. "I have pain".

For example these plugins work in my PSP 2021 (32bit version)

Actually, I don't think you got help that suggested purchasing PSP2020. What would have been more helpful to the forum members here who might have the same issue would have been if you had - as suggested by @hartpaul - at least let us know which plugins would not open for you in the version you had issues with. While this forum, of course, tries to help with issues that each person has, the DETAILED information provided by those initially asking for help is needed so that the thread can also be helpful to other members of the forum. Just sayin'....

I went through the plug-ins on my system, and here is a list of those that do not work on PSP2021 (they either cause me to reboot, or they cause PSP to crash to the desktop). I know that they do work on the earlier versions of Paint Shop Pro that I have... 2019 and 2020:

Crescent Moon
DC Special
Distort
FunHouse
Graphics Plus
Greg's Factory Output
Greg's Factory Output Vol II
Mirror Rave Quadrant Flip
MuRa Pro Seamless
MuRa's Meister
MuRa's Seamless
pentacom
Pixelate
Psychosis
Toadies
Transparency (Eliminate black or white)
Unplugged Colors
Unplugged Effects
Unplugged Shapes
Unplugged Tools
Xynthetic Web Scrub

Hope it helps!

Ooeeer!
Recently I've been thinking about upgrading(?) my PSP 2018 to PSP 2021, but reading the problem Plugin list has put a stop on that thought, as a number of the plugins in the list I use.

So thanks for the list, most useful...

All the filters you have listed except for Mura's Meister and maybe the last one, which I don't have so couldn't test, are Filter Factory filters and work perfectly in PSP 2021 32 bit when imported into Filters Unlimited. I checked each one in my PSP 2021. Normally any filter that is 56kb in size is a FF filter. You do have the dll added to system files for Filter Factory filters?

Thanks for pointing that out patara! I did import these into Filters Unlimited, and they do work there. I have some friends who are scratching their heads over this too. I'll be sure to pass this on to them.

I just thought I'd note how important, as shown by the plugin list posted by @theavy, it is for people posting issues to provide as much detail as possible. That list caused others to realize the issue and then resulted in @patara being able to post a solution that would have helped the OP (had that person initially posted such a list) as well as others following the thread.

Great. It was just by luck that I happened to see your post yesterday as have not visited the site for a few weeks due to commitments.

Slight aside, but I think relevant...
Take is as a given, I'm a user of apps not a coder... :)

What about the old plugins makes them unusable in the recent versions of PSP, and is it fixable by a rewrite?
