Remove object in video?
I've tried to follow this guide - https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/pages ... e-objects/ to try to remove an object in a video. I'm using VS Ultimate . Having no luck. The instructions make no sense to me. The overlay track with the duplicated video, and the mask applied to the object, is on top of the original video on the top video track. The object I want to remove has no motion. so I didn't do that step, and no additional adjustments made.
Then there is this instruction: Move the original clip in the preview window so that your subject no longer shows through the mask. Click ‘Project’ or click on the timeline at any point during your clip to check the position of your clips to ensure the object is hidden. Play the clip through to ensure everything looks smooth.
Just not understanding that instruction and not seeing the object disappear at all.
I tried to find a video on it in Youtube but didn't have any luck.
Any suggestions?

Re: Remove object in video?
As seen in the first picture below, yes, i did the invert. I must be misintrepeting the final instructions or something, or something earlier. Another thing, looking at the representation of the mask (I presume that is what I see), is not at all like what I created shown in the above picture. The mask in the bottom picture looks like an oval.
FYI, I am trying to remove the camera and tripod.

Re: Remove object in video?
That oval icon doesn't matter. Bump your videos to overlay tracks and position your unmask one to the right and down a bit, to get the clear wall.

Re: Remove object in video?
Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
Works pretty good. Only thing that is happeneing to me is the wall color is definitely off a bit. But for this particular task, I don't think it's a big deal. I tried changing the transparency setting thinking it may help. But doesn't look like it is keeping that setting. It makes no difference, and when I go back into the mask creator, the transparency remains at 50%.
Thanks again...

Re: Remove object in video?
Well, turns out that the mask makes the camera disapper, but the masked area is off color just a bit, and worse, it is transparent. I tried changing transparency in the mask tool but couldn't get it to work. Short video https://youtu.be/Q7t3MIcfAYk.

Re: Remove object in video?
You should feather a bit more your mask.
There is a brightness difference, so in color tab reduce exposure a bit of that clip.
Regarding your hand move, well, it's only very few frames, there you will have to rotoscope your mask frame by frame.

Re: Remove object in video?
Is that clip a video or still image.
Can you provide the original file to allow users to test

Re: Remove object in video?
Sorry for the double post. It is a video file. The hat cannot be removed and I get a black square instead of the background.
I used a logo remover and it worked fine. The file can be found at : https://app.sugarsync.com/wf/D1814182_040_840074452

It's a video but the hat is still so no mask movement is needed

What I get is a black box-no backgound. I mask and invert-no soap!

Re: Remove object in video?
Joseph
Viewing Asiks image the lower video has a hole in the frame showing as a black mask
The top video shows through that hole and displays the hat.
Move the top video to the left and the sand will show through the hole
So clicking the top video should show the preview having trim handles ( Distort Tool- Scale Mode)
Drag the screen to the left just a little, enough to see a black border to the right, the hat has also been moved to the right
Now view in Project mode, the sand should show through the hole
Because your background is static, applying this effect is similar to using a still image.

Re: Remove object in video?
Moving the handles to the right displayed the sand. That was what I was missing.
Thank you
