I have lost the ability to double click say on a jpeg to open it in PSPro 2021 Ult.
I am also not finding a way to sort that. I go file>Pref>File Format Associations>Then a window opens saying” to change your default apps, go to Settings>Apps>Default Apps” That takes me to Apps and Features which lists all my Apps giving no other options like marking check boxes for the option wanted.Help please

Re: Cannot open an image by double clicking
Ken -- when you get that long list of default apps (Settings > Apps > Default Apps), if you double left click the icon of the apps you are interested in, it should produce a dropdown menu of possible apps which you can then choose between. The double click should probably be slower than your normal double click -- try with a second between the two clicks.

Re: Cannot open an image by double clicking
In the list presented in Apps and Features, left clicking, double clicking at various intervals for me only show the options of Modify( which does not respond) and Uninstall. There are the figures of 23.1.0.27 and 31/10/2020 showing on the icon window.

Re: Cannot open an image by double clicking
If you go one down from Settings > Apps > Apps and Features you should see Default Apps. And on that page, in small green letters, are 4 listed topics towards the bottom of the page. The top one says "Choose default apps by file type". Left click on that and wait for a while as the very long list of file types populates the page. This can take a while so be patient. Beside each file type item in words there will be an icon representing what is currently designated the default app. And it's that you have to left click twice. See attached image. Go to the red arrow first, then the green.

Re: Cannot open an image by double clicking
Kenneth.
Your original post mentions PSP although you have posted to Video Studio forums, not that it matters as file associations are more of a windows issue.
Are you sure you want PSP to open your images, normally I would have thought that an image viewer would be the better option.
Windows 10 does have its default Photo viewer, I started using Faststone viewer in preference to the windows Photo.
To open any image using PSP I first launch PSP then use File – Open (Ctrl+O)
Alternatively drag and drop the image from the folder to PSP workspace.
Similar would be used for Video Studio, launch the program then File Open Project.
If you do set PSP as the default I would think that would limit your choices when you simply wish to view images and not edit them.

Re: Cannot open an image by double clicking
Thank you for your replies gentlemen, most useful as usual. The reason I open images in PSP is that 9 times out of 10 I need to edit them in some way or other using most of the attributes that the software has to offer.

Re: Cannot open an image by double clicking
The two options, one to first open PSP then use File Open, or drag and drop from windows explorer
takes approximately the same time to complete as does locating the files to double click, which for the first image would also launch PSP.
In all instances you have to locate the files on the hard drive.
My concern was that if you set the jpeg files association to open in PSP then that limits your options to view your images using an image viewer.
I assume your first approach is to view the images to decide which to open using PSP
Kenneth have you managed to set the files associations options to open PSP with a double click of an image.
Of course you can try using it and see if it is a suitable option to use.
