Well, Farfignuton! Somehow the Nvidia screen record switched back to single track recording. 😠

Okay. This one I know is right. But you guys have to remember, only VLC or Quicktime is gonna show you both tracks. VLC can only play one track at a time though, but you can use it to look at the properties and see both stereo tracks.

Well, the good news is VMS16 do read the 2 tracks with ease
vms16.jpg
* The bad news is that you just missed by a day the 30$ humblebundle deal for VMS and Vegas16...

The freeware Shotcut also do but you need to select

I tried to find a converter that will mix those tracks but nothing on my system yet. I'll look deeper later the day.

** you can get VMS17 for $35

*** Have you you tried recording just your mic with audacity while screen capturing ?

OK, I might found how to pull you out of the mud.
You will need ffmpeg.exe and run this command line

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i InputfileXXX.mp4 -c:v copy -c:a aac -b:a 192k -ac 2 -filter_complex amerge=inputs=2 outputfileXXX.mp4
This will merge your two tracks (it did on your test file) into one.
**I don't know how sync will be over long videos.

I was actually looking at Vegas 16 just yesterday. I saw a deal on it but got confused between Vegas 16 Pro and Vegas 16 Pro Edit. The deal was for the "Edit" version and I could not tell what the difference was between the two.

I have been using VS for a very long time, but I realize it is not a premiere video editing program. It had always done well for me with a little, sometimes a lot, of tongue holding. It has definitely gotten better over the years from what it was under Ulead. But, I don't see a lot of professionals using it. It seems that the pros on Youtube use Adobe Premiere or Final Cut. I know I have tried Adobe before and have never liked the way their programs work. I have never tried Final Cut or Vegas before. What are your thoughts on these?

my 2c,
It is perfectly legit here in the VS forum to have more than one NLE.
Your best NLE is the one you know how to operate, according to the videos you are doing.
Few years ago when I was fed up with VS's "bells and useless whistles" they keep adding, I went and test few other.
I found VMS16P for 60$ as best fit. It isn't perfect, but for the bread and butter of editing it superior to VS. You can get VMS17Platinum for 50$ here
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/u ... roductMenu
* you could Try it for 30 days.
If no Covid then Ver18 was about to go out last month, but now, I don't know.
