Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
I have two issues with Rendering video footage with VS Pro X9:
a) I attempted to Render a 35-minute video, selecting MPEG-4 as output, with the top Profile (AVC 1920x1080 etc.), only to have the process stalled at 58% completion,
even with 32 Gig of RAM running under Windows 10;
b) Then I tried Rendering that video with AVI as output, which finished OK--but the AVI version was marred by excessive moire-type "shimmer"-like patterns,
especially in the sequences with wind in the trees--far more than in the original MTS footage. A mystery!
Per a): Would a lesser MPEG-4 Profile enable completion of the Rendering?
Per b): Are there any particular VS Pro Filters that could diminish the moire-like effects?
Thanks for any responses!

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
You don't list the properties of your source and render files. Nevertheless, I'd suggest that you let VS match the properties of the 1st video clip that you add to a project. You can also try using the 'Same as First Video Clip' when rendering.DayO wrote:a) I attempted to Render a 35-minute video, selecting MPEG-4 as output, with the top Profile (AVC 1920x1080 etc.), only to have the process stalled at 58% completion,

Note that AVI files can be huge so they may be best avoided.DayO wrote:b) Then I tried Rendering that video with AVI as output, which finished OK--but the AVI version

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
What clips are on the timeline at approx 58%
Have you applied any types of or extra edits for those clips. FX filters, speed settings, added title clips etc.
Post updated, If the original videos are MTS then you will be best rendering to MTS.
What are the full properties of your MTS video files.

Thanks - I'll input those source and render properties shortly...
I'll have to double-check on the clips at 58%; I have certainly added many voice tracks throughout the video.
And I do wonder if other MPEG-4 Profiles Render more easily....

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
Project Properties (When Rendered OK for a DVD much earlier)
MPEG
24 bits
720x480, 29.97 fps
Upper field first
DVD-NTSC] 16:9
Video data: Variable Max 8000 Kbps
LPCM Audio
48000 Hz, Stereo
File size 444.5 Kb
Render Properties (For latest MPEG-4)
MPEG-4 AVC (1920x1080)
30 p, 15 Mgps
24 bits, 1920x1080
30 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 15000 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio, 192 Kbps
Other data shortly.
Again, are there any VS Pro Filters that can diminish "moire"-type shimmer patterns in video clips?

You can't render to MTS in VS Pro, I believe.lata wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 5:57 pm What clips are on the timeline at approx 58%

But I need an output format good for YouTube uploading.

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
Yes you can...........
MTS video are AVCHD video types
From Share these are showing as AVC / H.264
The default profile uses settings similar to your video files properties.
You do not show those details but will be similar to :-
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-NTSC), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 18000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
We also mention using Same As First Video Clip, have you tried that option?
This will use the properties of the first video on the top timeline and if that is one of your MTS videos will use those properties.
Try rendering to Same as First Video Clip to see if the resultant video is good quality, it should be as good as the original.
Oh one setting you can try, Preferences (F6) -Edit Tab – Set Resample Quality to Best

First Clip Properties:
Video: H.264 Video
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 59.940 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max 26000 Kbps)
Notes: Video was shot over a period of four months. Recent rendering, with 16 Gig of RAM, Rendering stalled at 38% completion. Most recent Rendering, with 32 Gig of RAM, Rendering stalled at 58% completion. Still figuring out Frame Properties at 58%.

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
Your first clip properties I assume are MTS as
Video: H.264 Video
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 59.940 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max 26000 Kbps)
When you rendered you chose a profile using 30 fps which effectively removed 50% of the videos frames reducing quality.
In addition the data rate was reduced by approx half, again this will reduce quality.
Although I mentioned Upper Field your video is actually Frame Based aka Progressive using 59.94fps
The recommended Share option would be “Same as first Video Clip”
However if you wish to render to Mpeg4 then chose a profile using
Mpeg4
Video: H.264 Video
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 59.940 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max 26000 Kbps)
Although you can modify the data rate a little the Frame Rate should remain as 59.94

Thanks very much for your informed feedback!
Any suggestions on VS Pro Filters for reducing moire-like patterns in video clips?
Or any other techniques for reducing them?

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
Are you experiancing this quality issue on the original video before you have used Share to render.
Or does the problem occur after rendering.
One of your renders did change the frame rate from progressive to interlaced also reduced the frame size and that will not do you any favours

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
That problem occurs both on the original video and on the Rendered version, with whatever output format--so far.
I did notice some of those De-Noise filters in the program Filters section, and wondered if they might help
to diminish moire-like patterning.

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
First try what Trevor suggested: "Same As First Video Clip" which should render at 59.94 fps instead of 30 fps. That may in itself remove the moire effect. I personally try to minimize or outright reject use of filters where I can since they often cause incidental problems on other aspects of the video, and usually extend rendering time, sometimes considerably.

Re: Rendering Issues With VS Pro X9 Output Formats
Rendering attempts continue to stall at 58%, despite setting recommended parameters;
Mpeg4
Video: H.264 Video
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 59.940 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max 26000 Kbps)
Unsure of how to calculate attributes at 58% of rendering--what on earth is jamming this up?
Does VS Pro X9 have issues with rendering videos beyond 30 minutes?
