Adding opening titles and credits

Post by sorter »

Hi
I am going mad here trying to do something pretty basic.

I want to add a text opening title with a plain background, ditto between clips, and credits at the end.
For the life of me I just can't see how to do it.
Some of the stuff I found (from 2017) mentioned color chips, and dropdowns that don't seem to be there on VS2020.

Thanks in advance. :)

Welcome to the forums!

And yes, VS 2020 saw those background colors moved to a different location. To the immediate top right of the preview screen, there is a descending list of icons. The very top one is where the background colors (originally called "mattes") are now hidden. Click on that top icon and it will turn blue. And a dropdown menu will appear, headed by "Samples". Below that you should see "Backgrounds > Solid colors". Those are what you are after.

I regularly insert one of those colors into my projects the way you describe. You insert the color then adjust its length by pulling its right edge out to the right, until you get the length you are after. Then you insert the title over the color.

See attached image.
