MovieFactory 7 replacement

Post by mikeb »

I have been using MovieFactory 7 for a few years on my Windows 7 computer and have always liked it. I use it to produce iso files with menus then use imgburn to burn the disks. I am starting to get problems with this computer and will have to change it and go over to Windows 10. Can you suggest a replacement for Moviefactory 7, it doesn’t have to be free just simple to use. I use basic menus with up to 8 thumbnails with the videos shown for about 20 seconds in each with just a plain blue background, nothing flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess this also begs the question as to whether MoveFactory 7 can be installed -- and works -- on Windows 10. I'm afraid I don't know as I have not used MF for many years, and am not even sure where my installation files for it might be, so I can't even try.

I have read other posts that say it doesn't work, I think I tried it a couple of years ago with no success. Can you think of a similar replacement.

Sorry -- I tend to have the more complicated (and expensive!) end of the spectrum. A simple one I have is Ashampoo Movie Studio 3 which is quite cheap and certainly easy enough to use. Look it up.

If you happen to have Nero, that of course has a good video-making capability too, though is of course more expensive. But from your reference to ImgBurn, I suspect you won't have Nero... Otherwise you would be looking at Adobe Premiere Elements which is of course not particularly cheap either...

I have got Adobe Encore CS6 it came with Premiere Pro CS6 but is so complicated to use I have given up. I transfer cine films to DVD so I might have for example six 10 minute films to go onto one DVD, I would pick a template that I have previously made with six thumbnails, link the videos, add titles and the whole job is done in under 10 minutes. I will really miss MovieFactory, can you suggest another program that would be as easy and simple to use that might work with Windows 10.

Hi Mike
It is of course worth trying to install MovieFactory on Windows 10, you never know.
Like Ken I have used some Ashampoo software, they provide a Burning Studio free or the purchased version Burning Studio 22, not sure what is the difference. The latter has a 10 day trial can be extended to 30 days if you have an a account.
When installing the free version I was offered 22 at a much reduced price
Maybe worth giving these a run.

Hello mikeb, FYI
This thread alittle old but, I thought i'd let you guys know that last year I tried mf7.0 pro in win 10 (after useing it from time to time in win 7); couldn't get it to run proper, so I went back to mf6 plus and it installed and ran I mostly just use videostudio but just wanted to let anybody know because mf6 plus can do most of what mf 7 did. I've burnsd dvd video folders to hd then burned to disc with nero and i've burned 34 short video clips to dvd with 3 menu pages with background music burned this project to iso with mf6.0 plus with no problems; also easy to do photo slideshows mf6.
