Hello
I am trying to importing MP4 4K movie clips but my studiopro Ultimate 2018 keeps freezing up and I have to close and restart studiopro.
I have also done the latest Corel Updates.
The files are 59.94 frame rate originally came from my GoPro 8. The file are on my PC and I can play them on my PC with VLC so I know they work.
My PC spec is windows 10 core i5-7400 and intel HD graphics 630 and NVIDA Geforce GT730 video card. I also have 64 GB RAM.
Can anyone please help.

Welcome to the forum.
Hopefully, someone with your combination of Hero 8 and VS 2018 will come along with a suggestion. Unfortunately, my own post will not be particularly helpful as I have the new Hero 9 Black and VS 2021, and I don't have any trouble importing 4K footage from the Hero either using the H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) codecs the camera shoots with. I think the Hero 8 also has this combination. I don't have VS 2018 installed, so cannot test that.

Re: Importing 4K MP4 clips to studiopro 2018 freezing issue
This probably is relevant to playing an imported file, as opposed to the import process: choose the file and see it in the Timeline. But if you do not have smart proxy enabled, trying to play any FHD/4K file as soon as its imported even on a grunt PC with lots of RAM, like yours (profile), will cause the imagery to quickly get out of sync and jerky, which can look like freezing up. Whats actually happening is that the video data rate for edit viewing is exceeding the ability of the processor to display it in real time, so the picture freezes and probably the audio will continue to play. After a few seconds the caches refill and the picture catches up v quickly (jerks), and then degrades again
So check that smart proxy is enabled, and try again.

This might not help, but I 'do' recall having issues with 60fps vids from my GoPro 8. (I now have the 9). No issues with 30fps, but it simply didn't like 60fps. I'm now on CV Studio 2020 and it opened those older files without issue. I cannot remember if they just appeared as blank videos or even imported. It's been awhile. As a test, you could install the trial version of CVS 2020 or 2021?

VS2018 is unusable when editing 4K 60p files without the use of Smart Proxy. Have you enabled Smart Proxy?MarcusQ1 wrote:I am trying to importing MP4 4K movie clips but my studiopro Ultimate 2018 keeps freezing up and I have to close and restart studiopro.
Even if Smart Proxy is enabled, you have to give VS time to create the proxy files before smooth editing will be possible. You can check the progress of the proxy file creation via the Smart Proxy Queue Manager.
Once the Smart Proxy files are created, you should be able to edit 4K 60p files in VS2018. In any event, that is my experience.
