Hi,
I have encountered the same issue and tried the same workaround.
The setup_Bonus.exe seems to only install the ProDAD programs which are located under Plugins_X64.
So I tried manually running the setup exes from all Newblue subfolders. This resulted in getting the same error again.
So I uninstalled the NewBlue Titler using regular windows procedure from apps.
This got rid of the error and it seems the rest of the NewBlue stuff is available in the program.
So the issue is only with the NewBlue titler.
I logged a support case with Corel as well.
If you find a way to install the NewBlue titler, please let me know - I will try some digging around as well.

Can you tell me how you uninstalled NewBlue Titler Pro5
Was this using Program and Features?
I ask as for a long time NBTP5 has not shown in P&F although it used to be there.

To install NBTP5 manually run the file from:-
64bit\BonusFeature\NewBlueTitlerPro5
Or run the installer again and choose repair, not sure but that should install NBTP5, but then again anything could happen

Trevor -- I've just checked my own Programs & Features, and "NB Titler Pro 5 for Corel" is listed there, along with NBTP7 Express, and all the other NB plug-ins. And they are all dated 17 June 2021. There are quite a few other entries in P & F with the same date, which tends to suggest something else fairly momentous occurred on that date. I certainly never reinstalled Windows then, and I don't recall reinstalling either VS or PSP around that time. I am wondering, though, if I upgraded to Win 10 21H1 then...

EDIT: In fact I've just checked in Windows Settings, and confirmed that was indeed when I went to 21H1...

Thanks Ken
Very strange that I do not have any new blue entries in P&F
I do recall a while ago that NBTP5 was there, but not now, I did a clean install in preparation to testing VS
I believe that Corel have changed their installations regarding New Blue

I think your entry may be a left-over, and if you uninstalled from P & F the Titler would still be available using Video Studio
Whether you wish to give that a go is up to you, but would be interesting.

Just to mention I have no other new blue installed, only those provided by the program

I can't remember when NBTP5 first appeared, but on my computer it could only have been VS2020 because on this computer I only have that and VS2021. In fact I had to do a total reinstall of Win 10 about 18 months ago, and then would have reinstalled VS2020. So in that circumstance I don't think NBTP5 would have been a leftover but an install as part of VS2020...

Hi Ken,
Surprised that you have both NBTP5 and NBTP7 Express, because New Blue told me that you cannot have 2 versions of NBTP installed on the computer,

Hello Robert,

Thank you for contacting NewBlue. I sincerely apologize, as you figured out yourself it is not possible to have two separate versions of Titler Pro on the same computer. Unfortunately there isn't a workaround for this that I know of.

Just to make sure, is Movie Studio 16 working when you have just Titler Pro 7 Express installed?

VS only brings up NBTP5 for Corel, which is understandable. I don't have Movie Studio 16 but version 17, and yes, it works, though I hardly use it these days since I bought the full version of Vegas 18 a year or so ago.

As has long been the case, when I open VS 2021, NBTP 5 also opens on screen (usually slightly before VS is fully open).

As for two versions working at the same time, the NB Apps Manager doesn't seem to have any trouble showing them. In fact, apart from Titler 7 Express, it also shows both NBTP 5 for Corel and NBTP 5 Plus for Corel. But I would have thought two being shown as "for Corel" and the other working with another program (Movie Studio 17), would not be particularly unusual...

Well after messing around on my "test" computer with Video Studio, I think I figured out the Qt platform plugin problem (at least for a clean install on my computers). The problem appears to be in NewBlueFX Titler Pro 5 and how it looks for Qt framework files. And the problem only manifests itself when:
  • You have other programs that use Qt and have their own Qt files
  • A path in your system PATH variable that points to one those other Qt files
Working around the problem is a bit geeky but I'll describe it for those who want to try it.

To Fix the Problem:
  1. Find out how many sets of Qt you have on your computer.
In File Explorer, click on C:\Program Files. Use Search near the upper right corner to look for the file Qt5Core.dll. You should get a list of showing all the variations of Qt5 you have on your computer.
  2. Display the contents of your system environment PATH variable.
There are several ways to do this. If you're a real geek, you can use the command line. I'm only a semi-geek so I use the graphical tools in Win10.
Open the System Settings control panel app and make sure you're on the Advanced tab. Press the Environment Variables button near the lower right. This should bring up an editor for your Environment Variables. Go to the lower System variables window and look for a variable named "Path". Select the variable and press the Edit button. You should get a window with every path in your Path variable, nicely separated.
  3. Find the path to the mismatched version of Qt.
Compare the paths in your Path variable with the locations of QtCore.dll found earlier. You will probably find a match. This entry in your Path variable is what is causing your Qt problem. If you don't find any matches, you have a different Qt problem.
  4. Add a path for NBTP5 to use. This solution will fix the Qt plugin problem for Video Studio and NBTP5 but it may break your other app.
In the Edit environment variable window, press the New button. Create a new path entry to the Qt files that NBTP5 should be using. On my computer, the path is:
    C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\Titler
Use the Move Up button to put your new path above the path pointing to the wrong version of Qt. Press Ok. Press Ok on all the other windows to close them too. That's it!
Start up Video Studio. The Qt platform plugin error message should be gone. But Video Studio sometimes delays the Qt plugin initialization until you actually use NBTP5. So go to Edit tab -> FX -> NewBlue Titler Pro 5 and click the Titler box. That should startup the Qt initialization. If you still get the error message, check your work.

Now why does adding a path to the system PATH variable fix the problem? It's either really bad programming or something leftover from a previous version of NBTP that got missed when the Corel version got reworked. There is really no reason why the system PATH should be used when searching for Qt files. I looked through the Qt documentation at www.qt.io and couldn't find any references to using the system PATH.

Hope this helps somebody. Corel support still has me uninstalling and reinstalling Video Studio.

Just an FYI - I had this issue as well (the QT error). After some googling I stumbled upon a possible conflict with a different version of the QT toolkit that could be installed with another app. Basically if the QT toolkit libraries are present in a path contained in the WIndows system PATH variable, Newbluefx titler bundled with Corel VideoStudio may try to use those instead of the ones packaged with itself.
On my system it was Topaz Video Enhance AI and the path C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video Enhance AI present in the PATH.
So I created a bat file with the following content:

set PATH=
"C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2021\vstudio.exe"

This unsets the PATH and launches VideoStudio. Launching VideoStudio using this bat file worked for me and it still allowed the PATH to contain the Topaz path just in case it's needed.
Just noticed the previous reply... So to add - it seems the QT path in the PATH variable is not needed for NBTP5 to work. If it does not find it there, it will look into its own install and will use the correct one. However, if there is some QT env path present in the system PATH, it will try to use that one and if they are not compatible, it will make VideoStudio to fail.

So the method I described above should work for both VideoStudio (which will use an empty PATH) and the other program (which will use the untouched system PATH).
YMMV.

To install NBTP5 manually run the file from:-
64bit\BonusFeature\NewBlueTitlerPro5
Or run the installer again and choose repair, not sure but that should install NBTP5, but then again anything could happen
If you choose not to install the bonus features in Vstudio and install NBTP5 manually using the installer NewBlueTitlerPro5ForCorel.exe in 64bit\BonusFeature\NewBlueTitlerPro5, it will create a separate entry that can be uninstalled in Windows.
However, please check my latest post for a workaround that hopefully works for you as well and allows NBTP5 to work.

I do not have a problem with installation of video studio nor any issues regarding Qt, I am just trying to understand what is going on.
I do not have an entry in Program and Features for NBTP5 and yet that works in all my VS programs.
That is the reason for asking if you have NBTP5 listed in P&Z and should you uninstall that does NBTP5 continue to work on Video Studio.

App
If you installed using the full install including bonuses, you would not have a separate entry for the titler in Windows Apps & Features.
I can see the entry in the Newblue Application Manager app as "Titler Pro 5 Plus for Corel" - but I am not sure if the app manager comes with VideoStudio - as I have other Newblue software installed on the box as well.

As far as I know the NB app Manager is from New Blue
If you run NBTP5 – Help – the App Manager will show.
The initial use of NB may also boot this manager to activate, which should remove any crosshair over the effect.

If you don't have "NewBlue Titler Pro 5 Plus for Corel" listed in Apps & features, you can uninstall by going to the directory
C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers and running the program "Uninstall Titler Pro 5 Plus for Corel.exe".

As tpolakov pointed out, you can install by going to the directory \VideoStudio2021\64bit\BonusFeature\NewBlueTitlerPro5 and running NewBlueTitlerPro5ForCorel.exe.

I ran this combination multiple times during my testing.

The keys are the conditions I listed in my previous post and tpolakov also discovered.
  • You have other programs that use Qt and have their own Qt files
  • A path in your system PATH variable that points to one those other Qt files
I'm guessing those conditions are why the Qt problem is difficult to reproduce and was missed by Corel's testing. But I still don't know why they are using the system PATH in the first place.

In my case, the other program using Qt is Visual SlickEdit, a programming editor. Fortunately, the SlickEdit programmers wrote their program correctly and adding the path to the NBTP5 Qt files does not appear to affect SlickEdit.
