PSP X9 cannot start?
Hello there,
since several days my PC gets down with an error, and Windows starts again everytime I would run X9!
All other programms are running without problems, only PSP will not run and shots down the computer.
I would try to install PSP X9 again, but I have no CD! I had purchased PSP since X2 and I updatet every new version.
What could be happend why PSP will do make so many problems and killing windows? How I can (must?) PSP install again, without an installing CD?
Please help me, I will get a nervous breakdown!
Thank you!
Norbert, so sorry for not perfect english...

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
Have you tried resetting PSP before it opens? It's at least worth a try if it was working before. Hold down the Shift key when you click on the PSP desktop icon to open the program. You should then get a message asking if you want to reset PSP. Say OK. If it then opens and is usable, you are good to go.
As for reinstalling, many of us save downloaded installation files to an external hard drive so that they are always accessible when needed.

Always have backups. Even from a CD. You can copy the files from a CD to a hard drive and is probably a good idea as even CDs seem to fail at some time or another or because you have a different CD reader that doesn't quite sync properly with that CD. (just in case you have other CDS!!)
You can even get a dual caddy as I have done and make a copy of your internal HD drive to another purchased HD drive. I have 4 backup copies of my desktop SSD also on SSD. About once each month I re-copy the internal drive (removing it from the turned off computer about 2 minutes ) , Place in caddy , put another equal sized SSD in the copy slot and press the copy button. The copy takes about 2-3 hours for a 1 TB drive. That way I have a hard copy of the whole drive (not a software copy using a cloning software tool which can take 5-6 hours +.

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
It did not works, Ken!
I found the setup.exe in a directory \setup\licens_number. Starting it X9 was deinstalled! I thought I could re-install with that way!
So what can I do now? Of course
I did not saved the installation files...
Must I purchase X9 again or can I download again using the number in this directory before?

Impossible: the setup directory was deleted while de-installation...

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
Do you have System Restore enabled on your computer? If so, can you restore the computer to point before you ran the setup.exe file? That should restore that file and you could copy it to a safer place (e.g. and external hard drive). Then run it again in its original location. That will remove the program. But then you could run it again from its new storage place.

Also, so long as you have the serial number you can activate the X9 trial version. No need to re-purchase it to get a new copy. You can try contacting support to see if they'll offer you a download for X9 as well.

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
I got from corel support a download link and a new serial number.
After installing Windows got down with "A failer has occured on your machine"! Same as before...
Is it possible that not PSP is the "enemy"? On the other side there is no other program that would not run exactly.
Now, I have not any idea what I can do to find out what is wrong

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
For what it is worth, I just installed PSP x9 from network today successfully on my new Windows 10 laptop.
Here is the link to download software: https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/pages/download/
I was able to find my original serial number by logging into the Corel.com website, then looking at my registered products.
Good luck!

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
Hello there,
no chance anywhere! Even other problems occured, so I buyed a new PC and all was okay...
Re-installation of PSP X9 was easy, rembering your hints! Thank you!
I have now a newer version 2018, and I wonder why I cannot install my old plugins e.g. PerfectlyClear. Do I need a new licence? Or is there a way to import my plugins and scripts?

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
Does 2018 have the Import from previous versions option?
If not Point 2018 File Locations to the same folders X9 uses for plugins and scripts. It should pick up the installed plugins and any scripts that were installed in X9.

Re: PSP X9 cannot start?
Some plugins work only with the 32bit version of PSP. Did you install both versions (32+64) as recommended?
