VuideoStudio Ultimate 2021 crashes

Post by MrCoCo »

As a software author myself, debugging is something I have to do. I find it troubling that I've thrown down over $100 for Ultimate 2021 to have it crashing more times than it gives me what I need. I find it more troubling that Corel is keeping the sales coming in knowing that the software is broken. Guys, if you're going to recognize a crash, use an exception trapper, throw me the hour glass cursor while you save the project before the crash, then bomb out of the whole program leaving me wondering did I just lose a commercial video I'm almost finished with, at least warn me of the crash in the app and do something more proper. This is not acceptible for a commercial product of this magnitude and I'm shocked at the decision to not halt sales of something so buggy.

With that rant being said, I love VideoStudio when it's running. This convinced me to try to figure out what was causing the crashes while Rendering my current video. Upon close examination of this project, I muted the VOICE track and was able to render without the Voice track! Now what's wrong with the Voice track, I asked. It turns out that the audio file I inserted was produced by XMedia Recode which apparently was saving the encoding as an MP4 with video and audio, even though there was no video in the MP4. I went back and made a proper MP3 file of my sound effects and added that to my project's VOICE track, and now the project renders without crashing.

What prompted me to even look at the Voice track? During almost all rendering crashes, an .MP4 video was actually produced but there was no audio at all. Muting the Music track didn't solve the crashes, I suppose because I was using stock tracks from the app.

If this bug report helps you render your projects now, please let me know in a reply.

Hello,

I love VS and I am used to the app since I am using for years. But the bugs for the last version really annoyed me a lot. I even thing to jump to another train.
Coming to audio track. Just to be in the safe side always convert your tracks to wav. It is safer.
Also in Mp3 you can not do timing. For example when you preview, the sound timing is way different then the output in render.

Can you provide a sample that is causing this failure to render
I have used XMedia Recode to convert a wav to MP4 audio, not that I would normally choose that format.
No problems in using with Video Studio and no problems rendering.

It could be the Project Settings being different or indeed the options you chose from Share.
So if you can provide an audio sample can you also provide the VSP, you will have to zip to attach to your post

Clearly the fix would be to choose a more suitable format when using XMedia
