Control size of load image

Post by arturox »

G'day folks.
Hope everyone is well in these strange C-19 times.

Is there a control/config in PSP that will allow me to set a size for images loaded into the Workspace, rather than them kind of filling the available workspace?

I'm working on a project that requires me to have a number of images displayed in the workspace at the same time, and ATM they all open and display almost filling the workspace which is a PITA as that means I have to manually resize them so that I can see all the images at the same time.

Thanks
Arturox

Nb: I'm not using a tabbed workspace.

ATM. I'm making the PSP window quite small while I drag in the images... This forces them to be small in the workspace... I then make the PSP window larger to do the work... But it is a bother every time I need to load in some more images.

Hi Ax,

Have you tried going to the Window menu and trying Cascade, Tile Vertically or Tile Horizontally to see if that does what you want?

Ah yes tried Cascading, but while it does load all the images with a small offset they are still large and each one needs manual resizing/zooming.

Yes tile Vertically does tile all the images over the Workspace in sized windows, it doesn't resize/zoom the actual contained images... If it was possible to select all the images in the Workspace then they could all be zoom sized at once.

What I need is a setting or something that will allow me to configure the max zoom on loading images.
Failing that... Is there a way to select a number of separate images in the Workspace at the same time?

Thanks for the thoughts, appreciated.

After thought...
I've just created a script that when (Single) clicked "down zooms" the selected image to a suitable size, compared to the usual at least 3 clicks on the zoom tool button to get a usable size.

Still means I have to do 'em one at a time, but does save a lot of mouse clicks... Now if only there was a way to select multiple images in the Workspace? ;-)

You may also use the mouse scroll-wheel to zoom in/out quickly. Combined with the Zooming settings enabled under File -> Preferences -> General Preferences [View], the window size adopts to the new zoom level. That's a very cool feature of PSP, which I use a lot too.

Mnnn! Interesting thought, I've been so preoccupied with trying to get it done automatically on loading...

Yes, I've tried that, not ideal as I still have to click each image before the action, but it does work and does save some fiddles and mouse clicking.

I'll give that a serious go when I get back to my project.

Thanks for the suggestion, appreciated.

Been a while but I thought I'd footnote this.
When I got back to my original project and others since, I adopted the simplest method that was suitable for my way of working.
That is make the whole PSP window small so the workspace in it was/is something like 100 x 50 mm in size, drop in the number of pictures, then open PSP to its working size, then manually drag the small images off the stack into the positions I wanted them on screen.
For me it has work very well for a number of projects.
