PaintPro for Photo Editing

Post by Clive »

Hi Guys & Gals

I recently put a post on this forum about PaintShop Pro Ultimate 2021, which I'm running as a trial.

I know it’s a matter of personal preference but which do you guys or gals think has been the best edition and why?

I'm just trying to get a feel of do I buy the latest or go for a new unused older version?

Here's a comparison chart to help you decide.

I have older versions but tend to use PSP2021. There are others on the forum who use their older versions for specific tasks. It all boils down to personal preference and how you intend to use the software.

Hello Kathy

Thank you for the comparison chart link at least I can now see at a glance the differences in the last few issues of PSP.

Some of the things I may never use in the 2021 version but it’s still nice to see what other people’s findings are when using the various parts of the program.

Obviously, the manufactures are going to say their product outshines all others, but sometimes when I read reviews I wonder if it’s the same product I’m reading about.

Also, the short comings are pointed out, some of which I haven’t even thought about.

Thank you once again for the link

You're welcome. Keep in mind that Corel.com only sells the current version.

If you are considering PSP2020 there are some sellers that may still have it in stock; just make sure you are purchasing from a reputable source.

I know exactly what you mean, I’m still running the trial on Ultimate 2021 and I’ve been having a look around on the internet, the price is £89.99 here in the UK.

Oddly enough I can’t see many places selling over here maybe it’s because its such a new release.

I did come across one place but it’s not in the UK although they are using a UK web address https://blitzhandel24.co.uk.
Their price is £71.19, I did email them to find out if it’s the full version or an upgrade and where they are located, below is their reply:

Dear Mr/Mrs Clive,

Thank you for your message.

It is a full version and this it will be sent as a download via email. We based in Germany and we offer the help also for the installation and activation.
Please contact us if u have any further questions.
Yours sincerely
Team Blitzhandel24 - Clemens Prinz - Customer Service

I haven’t a clue who they are, anyway if I can I’d prefer a disc rather than downloading it just in case I mess up.

Really quick note here: When it comes to PSP you always buy the full version of the software. On Corel's website when it asks if you want the "Full" or the "Upgrade" that's pricing only. You always get the full installer. This lets you have multiple versions of PSP installed on the same computer. Upgrade pricing is only available from Corel, so if you go with someone else it will always be the full product pricing. Upgrade pricing eligibility states you only need a previously licensed full version of PSP. If you're uncertain if your previous copy of PSP qualifies for Upgrade pricing I would ask Corel support.

Hi Clive, welcome to the forum.

If you already own an earlier PSP version, and you can take advantage of an upgrade discount, I can't really see why not getting the latest version

Even if you are not eligible for an upgrade discount, I would still suggest going for the latest version (especially after reading in other threads that you've already tested its trial verison on your system and you don't have issues). Unless of course you can find a relatively older version at a huge price difference.

I think we never know which features we're going to need (or not) in the future. I frequently catch myself wondering: "why the heck I haven't used that feature before? lol

Oh one more thing, every year there are many very nice deals showing up, so you may want to wait till one of those shows up for PSP 2021 too. Usually such offers are brought to our attention by fellows users in this forum.

Thank you for the advice migf1

I'm still using the trial one as Iv'e only had it 3 days.

I’ve been reading that PaintShop Pro Ultimate 2021 can only be used on one system at a time.

It will only be myself that’s using it so no problem there, but how does it know if its being used on more than one system at a time?

It doesn't. That again is in the EULA. You agree not to use it on more than one computer at a time, just as you agree not to install it on more than 2 computers. Corel isn't actually stopping you, and there isn't, as far as I know, any monitoring going on to catch you breaking their rules. It's simply on your honor, you agree to abide by the license agreement.
