VideoStudio 2020 Cannot Add More Folders

Post by Bolosun »

I have tried searching to see if this has been asked before, but get 20+ pages of spurious results.
So here goes.
Tried to add another folder under the media tab, and I have already Background, samples plus 4 of my own, but it wont let me add any more folders. Is there a limit?

I do not know if there is a limit but others have raised the issue of adding folders although when adding more than 99

If you have only added a few then there should be no problems in adding more, I do not normally use many additional folders, only the ones I need to use, so not to store my media files
I have probably added 20 in the past with no issues

What version of Video Studio are you using, your profile shows 2020, can you confirm
Can you take a screen shot of the media Library showing the error message

I think the limit is around 40. And even if you reach this limit, I think you can add at least one sub-folder to each main folder. It doesn't sound like you used your limit. You may need to reset your Library (under Settings) but before you do, export your current Library. Reset your library. See if you can add more folders to comfirm. Then re-import your original library to see if that doesn't fix the problem.

Hi
I have just added 30 folders then I received the warning, I was then able to add Sub Folders but only one for each main folder
If a Library reset as recommended by does not fix this you can try resetting the program by re-naming the 23.0 folder assuming you are using 2020

Just noticed your last reply
Thanks for the image, you appear to have added Sub folders, How many?

One shows as 31453, did you name the folder ?????

I have reset the library and I can add folders again. Obviously all of my original folders have now gone.

As I indicated in my previous post, if you want to keep your original library folder structure before resetting the Library, export your Library and then re-import it after the reset.

It appears you have reached the program limit.
Bolosun wrote: Thu Mar 18, 2021 1:27 pm Wonder why the limitation?
Video Studio always had a folder limit in its Library. I believe most forum members use the Library as "project bins." Once the final video is complete, the project bin (folder) is deleted. I suspect they use Window's folder structure to manage their source data. Corel's other video editor; Pinnacle Studio has a more comprehensive Library where you can store assets in Collection bins as well as Project bins.
