VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Title pretty much says it. I know I did take a snapshot on another video last week. Now it does the flash like it is taking one, and then highlights the last video I put in the folder. No snapshot.
I made sure that the capture settings were set to JPG.
Any thoughts?

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Can we assume you looked where snapshots like this are normally stored? That is C:\Users\[Your Name]\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\23.0. I just opened a random project in VS2020 and took a snapshot. And though it was a BMP rather than a JPG, it nonetheless showed up in that folder. I imagine it would also do that if it were a jpeg. But you might want to try a BMP.
The other thing I might note is that, when you get it working, that you remember to take the snapshot in Project mode since that will usually give you a better quality image than if you took the snapshot in Clip mode (which uses the clip's properties to set the properties of the screenshot).

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Thanks again. I just realized I didn't answer a question you answered in the other post. My Pics are jpgs.
I may be wrong, but I thought it kept the pictures in the default folder where I keep my projects. I don't use the project directory (never have since each version from 2018-2020. At any rate they aren't in the folder you reference, and like I noted in the other post, my Corel directory is 22.0, not 23.0.
I'd say whatever is screwing things up is related to both of my problems.

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Oh, I just went out and loaded VS 2018, and did a save a snapshot. It put it in D:\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\21.0. I'm guessing that 22.0 is VS 2019. That is in this directory: C:\Users\roger\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro. I'll have to do some searching to see where 23.0 is.
IF it keeps them in it's own directory instead of the directory I'm working in, I don't see why it is failing.

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Here's an interesting one: So I opened VS 2018 and made a snapshot. I copied it into my working directory. I went to add it to my project, and it will not go into the list of videos in the project. So I browsed to the 23.0 directory, the pictures are there. Tried to load it into the project, and no go.
I just checked the preferences in V. 2020 and it is pointing to the 23.0 folder ( D:\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\23.0 ).

When we take a snapshot an image file is saved to the programs working folder, a thumbnail of that image is placed in the library with a name as a date format, so today would be vs210301 (1st March 2021), do you see that thumbnail?
If we right click that image thumbnail for Locate on Computer we can find the actual file on the hard drive.
Inserting the image into the library has to go to the Image / Photo page, it cannot be placed within the Video option, if the Photo option is hidden then the image cannot be placed, check at the top of the library that the three icons are selected and highlighted in Blue, was the Photo icon hidden
Float your mouse over the icons for a tool tip, Hide Photo etc.

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
I have a different problem, in that there is no listing for taking a snapshot. I put a support ticket into Corel and there response is to eliminate all versions (I have Vo, 2019 Ultimate, 2020 Ultimate, 2021 Ultimate and the non working 2022 Ultimate). 64 p. They indicated version colliisions as the cause and suggested eliminating with Program reinstalling and if still a problem use their clean programs. I am relunctant to do all this and get back to 2022 Ultimate and all my addons/purchases.
Any other suggestions.

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Could we just clarify, please. Are you saying that with a clip in the timeline and cursor at the point where you would like to take a snapshot, that when you click on the Edit tab at the top of the screen, the dropdown menu which appears does not contain an item saying "Take a Snapshot"?

That is correct. I can chose the options panel and it does not appear.

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Unfortunately I don't have VS 2020 on this computer, but I don't recall any Options panel. The tab which usually contains 'Take a Snapshot' is the Edit tab...
The only other thing I can think of to do, apart from reinstalling, would be to reset VS. Go to C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) and rename the 23.0 folder to something else e.g. 23.0_OLD. (In numerical terms, 23.0 is VS 2020.) Then restart VS. Be patient as it takes a while to rebuild things, but usually if anything has gone missing, this process usually reinstalls it. Hopefully you will then find Take a Snapshot.

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Ken, I think that this poster may be referring to the Options Panel below the Library Panel, the other option is to open the Record/Capture option, which also gives a snapshot option

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Well, if he's talking about the Options panel below the library, I don't get the ability to take a snapshot there either, in any of the four tabs.
I do, however, have it also in the Record/Capture button above the timeline...:

Trevor -- that's what I have been encouraging him from the beginning to say he has tried... He seems to claim he can't seen anything there relating to snapshots... That's why we are looking at alternative places...

Re: VS Ult 2020 -> Snapshot not working
Yep , I realise that.
Some confusion as there are two Edit choices , one as my image and the other from the Options panel, I think FourWinds is looking at the Options panel, and thats the problem.
A keyboard shortcut key would be useful
