Hello, I'm new with Corel Paintshop. Previously i used photoshop for editing. Because i want to use legal software, somehow i search and found this software. But, my first impression is not good. I know it cannot be compared to Adobe software and it is okay with me. The only reason i ask in this forum is because every tool i use in PaintShop Pro 2021 is very slow. It is almost have one second to change tool especially with text tool. I already open ticket to corel but in the end they ask me to open ticket to Gigabyte as my motherboard brand. Same with corel, i found no solution either from Gigabyte to fx this issue. Anyone in this forum have same issue and have solution ? Thank you.

Re: Paintshop Pro 2021 - Change tool is very slow
One second to change tools does not seem like much to me.
Have you tried resetting PSP to factory default? Here are the instructions.

Re: Paintshop Pro 2021 - Change tool is very slow
Welcome to the forum aghifarii.
I'm using both programs, and AFAIK PSP can be slower than Ps, especially when it comes to very big images. However, with your system specs it shouldn't be that slow. Activating tools that involve brushes can be slow the 1st time until the brushes get cached. Once they have, the switch should be almost instantaneous.
PSP brush usage is also slower compared to PS, and also compared to Gimp and Affinity Photo as far as I can tell. This can be mitigated by increasing the Step setting of the brush, and even more by resetting the brush (even after having increased the Step). However, in my end brushes in PSP 2021 are slower compared to PSP 2020 (have no idea why, since the brush engines was supposedly not touched between the 2 versions).
The text tool isn't super fast either, but also it shouldn't be that slow as you describe. In my end, my major gripe with PSP text is the redraw issues (they can be fixed by zooming In and Out once).
How about tools that don't involve brushes or fonts? In other words, how fast can you switch to tools that do not require a search in your hard disk? If they are fast, then it may have soemting to do with the hard disk access on your system.
All that said, I think I've read forum posts of at least a couple more ppl with a rig similar to yours having performance issues with PSP 2021. More specifically, having Ryzen 5 3600 and nvme SSD. I have no idea if it is related though, but my system is way less powerful than yours, and I don't really have these performance issues I keep reading about (Ryzen 5 1600, regular SATA6 HHD@7200rpm, Gigabyte GTX 1050Ti 4Gb, 2x8Gb RAM). Try to update drivers of all critical parts and see if that helps .
A last point to note, is that quite a few people in the forums have reported that many issues have been solved for them after rolling back their Windows 10 to previous patch updates. I can't say though cause I'm on Windows 8.1
EDIT: Another thing to test: try with your AntiVirus temporarily disabled. If PSP performance increases, you can add it to your AV exception list. Also try with blocked Internet, and if that helped with PSP performance, then you can add it to your firewall blocked apps.

I try to answer your point of view below.
- In my end, my major gripe with PSP text is the redraw issues >> I have this issue also.
- However, with your system specs it shouldn't be that slow >> I think so, since my system have above recomendation spec. But,...
- The text tool isn't super fast either, but also it shouldn't be that slow as you describe >> Because i'm new with PSP, i only compare to PS with no delay whichever tool selected.
- How about tools that don't involve brushes or fonts? >> Theye are fine. Only text tool and brushes tools since it is the most widely used.
I upload screen recording from my PSP21 showing it.

If you think this is normal then i might need to get used to
Re: Paintshop Pro 2021 - Change tool is very slow
Yeah, it looks pretty normal
PS. Btw, this forum is a great PSP resource, so don't hesitate to post any queries you might have. There are quite a few differences between PSP and Ps, some things are easier in Ps, others in PSP. There are forum members working with both programs, so we can probably help you make the transition. There are also quite a few tutorials that might also help a lot (check out my signature for my favorite tut places about PSP).
