Jasc Staff and Enthusiasts
I thought I would put up a picture that I found quite interesting. These are many of the Jasc staff that were heavily involved in the design and programming of Paint Shop Pro. It also includes manu of the original PSP enthusiasts back in those days.
List of Known participants in this picture
Front Row (All Jasc staff)
Nancy Peterson, Kris Zaklika, Joe From, Dave Grimes, John Krenz, Jon Ort
Back Row
Tom Vallombroso (State of Entropy), Jackie Lauderoute, Angela Cable (psplinks.com), Cliff Norton, Sally Beacham (Dizteq, PSP8 Zero to Hero), Lori Davis (Lori's Web Graphics, several books, ZDU), Ron Lacey (rontoons.com, PSP8 Zero to Hero), Diana Todd (freetubes.com), not sure, not sure, not sure

That is so neat! Look like a bunch of people I'd be more than happy to be sharing a beer and huge plate of nachos with!!

Re: Jasc Staff and Enthusiasts
There was some speculation that the lady under the Jasc sign is/was the Vixen of Verbiage. The Rutabaga is in the front row...

Re: Jasc Staff and Enthusiasts
Is the Rutabaga the guy in the back row, fourth from left with the white beard - the same man front row far left in the first image posted here?

This is when JASC was great. Before Corel took over. I really miss those days.

Re: Jasc Staff and Enthusiasts
Yep, and I stand corrected. I now believe that the guy in the back row near the left with the white beard in your image is the same man who is fourth from the right in the first image. And the guy who, in the first image, is front row left is the guy who is second row center in your image. But is either of them Rutabaga?

Re: Jasc Staff and Enthusiasts
Spandex Rutabaga was a Jasc team member who was a major contributor to the PSP usenet newsgroup, a text type of discussion forum, threaded similar to the web forum we are on now but simply text. You might compare it somewhat to text messaging on a smartphone with various members involved in the discussions but with different subjects having their own thread for discussion, just as they are here. It existed existed prior to Corel taking over Jasc Software and setting up this forum.
Another such contributor was Kris Zaklika, and most of us believe they were one and the same person. That was because they both had similar online personalities - extremely brusque in their approach, impatient with questions (or at least the questioner) that they felt had been answered over and over again or where the answer was easily found in Help files, etc. Both, however, were extremely knowledgeable about PSP, and despite their seeming impatience they would provide very useful and detailed explanations and solutions to problems that were very much worth paying attention to. To the best of my knowledge nobody has ever confirmed that, if Spandex was a different person, he or she ever worked for Jasc.
I still recall what I consider a "signature" response by Kris Zaklika when someone would post looking to solve an issue they were having and who would say something to the effect that they followed steps A through G (for example) religiously half a dozen times but still couldn't achieve the result they were looking for. Kris's invariable first response was: "Then don't do that!" I believe it was his way of pointing out the truth of a quote often attributed (perhaps erroneously) to Einstein that the height of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Re: Jasc Staff and Enthusiasts
Hmm, I don't remember Spandex being brusque or anything else negative.
I have been part of those groups since early 2000!
She/he was always very helpful and took great effort to explain something so even the least experienced user could understand.
I have lots of those explanations/tutorials in my PSP how-to-do-it folder
