Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021

Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021
I'm experiencing random disappearance of the brush marquee in PSP 2020 and 2021. Has happened with several kind of brushes (paintbrush, clone brush, etc), but unfortunately I can't reproduce it reliably. The only "fix" for me, is to save my work, exit PSP, and re-launch it (which is quite annoying).
I'm not sure if PSP 2019 or 2018 had this issue, but I'm pretty sure X7 works fine.
Anyone else having this issue? Is Corel aware of that? Is there a fix coming up?

If we're talking about the same thing,I have seen the outline of the brush disappear but it's not something I can consistently replicate. If memory serves me correctly I just reset the brush tool and it went back to normal.

That's the one Kathy, I'll try resetting the brush the next time it happens!
Thank you very much!

Just happened again in PSP 2020, and unfortunately Resetting the brush didn't work (I assume you meant resetting it from the Presets popup).
Saving & Closing the image, then re-opening it fixed it (which is kinda better than exiting PSP and relaunching it).
PS. When it happens again in PSP 2021, I'll try the Reset thing there too and let you guys know if it worked.

Re: Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021
Does switching to a non-marquee/brush tool and then back work? If closing an image works, it makes me wonder if it's just a re-draw issue and forcing it to reload the marquee might force it as well.

Re: Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021
I think it doesn't... I mean I think I have tried that in the past and didn't work, but I'm not 100%. I'll have to wait till it happens again, and try.
It does seem like a redraw issue to me too, but if I'm not mistaken I have tried zooming in and out (this usually fixes redraw issues with vector texts in Edit mode), switching to another tool and back to brush, and trying to resize the brush as well (the slider works but the marquee doesn't redraw, it stays "hidden"). But I'll try again next time it happens, to make sure.

It's already unchecked on mine and I sometimes get the missing brush marquee/outline.

Thanks Jean-Luc, but just like Kathy I have that option unchecked anyway. It happened again btw, and still the only way to fix it was by closing the image and re-opening it.

Re: Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021
There's another option you could try, no idea if it'll work or not. In the General Program Preferences under "Display and Caching" there is a checkbox for "show brush outlines" you can try turning that off and on again.

Re: Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021
Thank you guys! I already turned on the Force Redraw option to see if it will help, and if it happens again, I'll try toggling on and off the Show Brushes Outline one to see if it will fix it.

Re: Brush Marquee Issues in PSP 2020/2021
I have often the problem in PSP2020. I use a script to watermark, resize, sharpen, rename and save the image, one of those commands hide the marquee.
My solution is :
- switch to Cloning tool and right click with the mouse pointer in the image and the marquee is back visible.
- go back to your tool it should be visible too.

Thanks fs999, I'll give that also a try the next time I run into the issue!

This just worked for me in PSP 2021. Finally! I guess it will also work in 2020.fs999 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 2:29 pm I have often the problem in PSP2020. I use a script to watermark, resize, sharpen, rename and save the image, one of those commands hide the marquee.
