Unable to export project files
New to using VS. I have been unable to export project files. Small pop up window appears stating "file may be write protected" . Original files were not write protected. How do I export to various formats?

Welcome to the forum!
I see you are using VideoStudio 2018. But where are you finding an Export button. The only one I am aware of is under File > Export as Template, which is pretty clearly not what you are after.
If you are wanting to "export" your project to various formats, you have to go to Share, and on that page choose what you want your project to become. The default setting on Share page offers you quite a few format choices, and you can even edit most of them by clicking on that tiny pen icon which the red arrow in the attached image is pointing to.
I suggest you look at all the other options on that page. Second from the bottom, for instance, is something that looks like a disc. That allows you, for instance, to choose to make a DVD of your project, or if you have bought the plug-in (for around $10), you can make a Blu-Ray disc.
It might also be useful to you to be aware that a project file .vsp does not contain any video at all. It is a small text file which tells VideoStudio where all the video in the project is stored on the computer and what editing has been done to it. You don't export as such; you Share...

When you say Export I assume you are using Share as Kens Image
A similar issue is caused where the File Location is no longer available.
So after the last render the file location has been deleted, this could occur if you render to a USB memory stick , then removing the USB will cause the error on the next render.
Choose a new File Location

Re: Unable to export project files
Sorry about the mix-up on "exporting" vs "sharing". Yes, I am trying to share projects but still with no success. The original file was transferred to my Dell laptop from a Sony 6300 camera. The file is residing now in a folder on the desktop. This message will occur even with video files from my i-Phone.
