Does PSP 2021 require a graphics card?

Post by SvendN »

I am presently looking to upgrade my PC to a new desktop, and would like to know if PSP 2021 needs a dedicated graphics card to run properly? Or will it run fine with integrated graphics?

Many thanks in advance for the help.

The tech specs say :
• DirectX 10 or higher compatible video adapter with the latest driver (DirectX 12 compatible discrete VGA card recommended for GPU acceleration)

My recent practical experience having migrated PSP 2020 from a laptop with i5-7200U processor, Intel integrated HD Graphics 620 and Nvidia GTX950M graphics to a desktop with AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G with integrated Radeon Graphics is that a separate graphics card is not essential.
With the new PC, even complicated brushes flow smoothly and rendering is fast.
A point to watch is that integrated graphics share system memory so it is worth specifying a larger system memory. Normally a graphics card can be added later if needed.

Thanks all, for the very helpful replies. And sorry for the slow response on my end -- I didn't get any notifications of new posts here.

Good to hear that it will run with integrated graphics -- saves a bit of money up front. As Andy mentioned, one can always be added later.

I plan to have 16 GB of ram, so should be good on that end, unless you recommend more(?). An SSD drive to run the OS and programs, plus a second HDD for storage, is also in the plans. Not decided on processor yet. I'm not particularly up to date tech-wise, so this is taking some time to get familiar with the latest hardware.
