You need to use only 3 sample points. The grey card is supposed to be strictly neutral (the 3 RGB values are the same). What the grey sample does is telling PSP what color correction to apply for correcting the color shift due to the light falling on the subject. You need to place a sample point on the grey card. The two other sample points must be placed on areas supposed to be white and black.
