Hello all,
I am currently working on a video in Video Studio 2020. Its a decent sized project with several clips. Today I captured a video with audio and attempted to add it to the project. After adding the video there seems to be no audio. I have checked and made sure that my laptop is not muted, and the audio in the clip is not muted. I viewed the audio in the sound mixer and found one static line which shows that the audio is non existent in my timeline. I am able to view and hear the audio in VLC with no issue. The video clip is a a AVI file. Not quiet sure what is going on and this is the first time I have ran into this issue. I tried calling and chatting with tech support but they were no help and told me that the tech support for video studio was unavailable. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
I am running on a Dell XPS 13 which was purchased in December of 2020 on windows 10 with everything updated.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
That properties box you posted is from Windows and doesn't tell us what format the audio is in. Can you please right click a clip in the VS timeline and copy all its Properties here, or take a screenshot of the Properties box and upload it as an Attachment.

Your video and audio properties are uncommon, e.g. 20fps. Regardless, try converting this file to standard format.coney27 wrote:I am able to view and hear the audio in VLC with no issue. The video clip is a a AVI file.

I will do that as soon as I'm back at my laptop.Ken Berry wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:19 pm Welcome to the forum.

I have edited other videos and clips in VS20 in 20fps without issue. In this project I have other clips at 20fps which also have audio and have no issues. Oddly enough this clip is not producing any audio at all. What would you recommend using to convert and what should I convert to?tletter wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:47 pmYour video and audio properties are uncommon, e.g. 20fps. Re: No audio while editing in Corell Video Studio 2020
The frame sizes are a little unusual although 16:9 (3072 x 1728), I doubt the program will be able to automatically set as project Settings.
The data rate is quite low (1254) considering the frame sizes being 4K
The audio using CCITT A-Law compression, not sure if Video Studio supports that particular codec.
If you say you have edited these before, were the properties of those video the same.
Convert the video to a more editable format, possibly try Mpeg4
Many on the forums use a free program called Handbrake
https://handbrake.fr/
Although you may be best if you can record to Mpeg4 at 1920 x 1080, that would be more compatible to edit using Video Studio
If you can provide that sample, you would have to upload to a sharing site, but we can try using our programs

Re: No audio while editing in Corell Video Studio 2020
Thanks for your reply Trevor. I will try and covert to Mpeg4 using handbrake and hope the audio remains.
The unusual frame size and data rate is due to the fact that the video is being pulled from a 8mp Hikvision IP Camera.
As for other edited videos I've had no issues in the past using VS20 for 4mp and 8mp clips, including similar frame size and data rates in the project I'm currently working on. I'm stumped why one clip, which has the same exact attributes has working audio and this one does not.

Re: No audio while editing in Corell Video Studio 2020
As suggested I converted the clip in handbrake to Mpeg4 without issue. I then imported the new clip into my active project in VS20 and now have working audio. I am happy to have a fully working clip so thanks for the suggestions. Still curious to know why this issue is occurring. Either way thanks for the help!
