The Brand New VideoStudio 2021

Post by remmyhi »

Hello,

Just received an exclusive offer to upgrade to VS 2021 with the features listed as attached below.
Cant find if already released, or just PreOrder strategy...
The old question is - is it worth.. And also - are the weaknesses from the previous ones fixed...

Is it worth it? Only you can decide that.
It's the same with the "weaknesses". Which ones? Some features I use, some I don't.
Everyone has different needs and how they edit.
And no, this is not a pre-order.....

A comparison of features between VS2019, VS2020 and VS2021 is aval @ https://www.videostudiopro.com/static/v ... rix-en.pdf, e.g. there are some new versions of the proDAD plug-ins. However, the key question is whether VS2021 is more stable or does it continue to silently crash at the drop of a hat, and freeze when scrubbing?

I grabbed the upgrade offer, based on the claim of improved masking. Still messing around with that. I really wanted some better audio alignment options. I usually end up doing my sync manually.

I don't want to be a downer but.....
That feature list-comparison (https://www.videostudiopro.com/static/v ... rix-en.pdf) say 'nVidia CUDA' works and has been working for the last 2 versions, this users group says it never worked and probably never will. How can we trust it to be any amount of accurate?

Get the trial version and conduct your own tests, or buy the software, test it, and then exercise the 30-day moneyback guarantee if you wish.

You cannot say this better.

But I'm not sure if I'm the only one who is looking for the PDF list and think how small amount of new features there are. Just enhancements and new versions from plugins. So perhaps, Corel did what this community has asked and really focusing to improvements and not features.
Interesting to see if the reported bugs are fixed.

Is there any link for 2021 trial version?
Seems like in videostudiopro.com the recent version is still 2020.

If the "official release date is about 2 weeks away" how come I was able to buy this new release, download, install, and run it today? Not trying to be snarky, but the download I got gave me the option of installing it as a trial. So, it's ready to go.

Despite problems (especially the silent crash which ticks me off every time), I've gotten used to the layout and work flow of this product, so I'm sticking with Video Studio for the time being. An acquaintance of mine who, like me, has his own YT channel, uses DaVinci Resolve and really likes it (they let you run it as a free version). I've downloaded and installed Resolve, but I must be pretty stupid because I can't figure out how to use it!! :D The work flow on that product does not match my brain or something.

VS 2021 looks much the same as 2020. The opening graphic is changed, of course, but so far so good. I hope that they've solved the silent crash thing. I guess I'll just have to wait for it not to crash before I can say the problem's solved.

One annoyance is fixed, and that is the Scorefitter music. In VS 2020 trying to play a clip from that library from the library itself was useless -- it sounded extremely distorted. So I had to put the clip into the timeline to hear what it sounded like. Now, however, it sounds just fine from the library.

I've barely had this thing installed for a few hours, so that's all I've noticed so far. Except it seems to start up much quicker than 2020 did.

At least part of the reason why I bought the upgrade immediately is because I wanted to support Corel's efforts with the product. FWIW

The 2021 program is being offered to existing customers as a loyalty option as a pre order, discounted so should save a of your money, Corel seem to go through this process each year.
Yes the download for the program should be via the Web Installer and would allow installation of the trial.

If you visit the Corel site you will NOT be able to purchase the program or download the trial.
At present the latest current version of Video Studio is 2020 and that will remain until the official release date, we are given to believe in approx. 12 days from today.

At that time we will create a new topic for Wishlist for 2021, although I do not see any urgency in doing that earlier than release.

Cyberherbalist, out of interest can you tell us the version you are using
