How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
I wish to make a standard DVD with chapter marks so I can skip within any given title but do not want to create chapter menus.
I have the latest version of Video Studio Pro 2020 - I have just downloaded it.
Is there any way to uncouple chapter menu generation?
Thanks

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
Basically, you can't.
To explain:
You will only find menus used for DVD's - because a DVD is a slow serial device, a menu is the only way to skip thru the disk to play a specific title or chapter without playing everything that is on the disk before it. You don't have to use a menu on a disk - but then you play from the start and just keep going . . . . until you see the tile or chapter on interest.
You can terminate play at any time.

Welcome to the forums
As mentioned you have to create a Chapter menu to set the chapter points, you would also need to name those chapter points, unless you are to flick blindly through the disc.
You can make things simpler by creating a Text menu
We can also customise the menu, changing the background etc.
Deselect Smart Menu
How many Titles are you using?
If we are using the one Title, then we can Hide that menu Edit tab – Advanced Settings – deselect Add Title Menu
Playing the disc will only display the Chapter menu, how many chapter points do you need?
To test your creation we can choose to Create Disc Image ISO
This will save the ISO to our pc allowing us to use VLC Media player to view the disc
Then when ok we can burn the ISO to disc, does save on creating those coasters.

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
I have about 20 titles, some of which are quite long so I would like to be able to skip between chapter marks within them. I was able to do this with my previous program (DVD Movie Factory Pro 7) but unfortunately I cannot load that onto my new computer.
The knowledge base indicates it is possible to create chapter marks without a chapter menu in Studio 16 and Avid Studio (https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... tudio+2020) but I was wondering if it is possible in Video Studio 2020.
I have 10 Title Menus in Smartscene, about 20 in Thumbnail and 9 in text (I have tried using two of the latter )

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
On the final page I assume you cannot see all content
To the right are chevrons / down pointing arrows, this will expand the view
Deselect Create to Disc
Select Create Disc Image
There are some free Menu Templates that allow for more titles per menu page, may be useful

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
It is a while since I created discs, this template is from VS X2, quite old now ( 12 years) but did allow for 12 thumbnails per page
Unzip and copy the files to:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Content\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Scene Button
I cannot say how well this menu will be, but you can try using the Iso option.

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
I think I must be doing something wrong. I created an ISO file on my computer which I can view using VLC Media player. But when I burn the ISO to disc VLC Media player on my computer does not recognise it nor does my TV (which is where I eventually want to play the DVD). Do I need to burn the Microsoft Access file as well as the ISO file?

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
How did you create the disc?
You cannot save the iso as a data file.
Instead go to Video Studio - Tools - Burn from Disc Image (ISO)
I think thats correct, not on the pc at the moment
Windows 10 can also burn DVD ISO files, right click the ISO file for options
Post Updated, strange i cannot find the Windows 10 option?
However there is also a small program called ImgBurn, you may find useful

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
ImgBurn, moreover, is freeware. You might also have another paid program for burning discs such as Nero, Corel's Roxio suite or Ashampoo Burning Studio...

Re: How do I create chapters without creating a chapter menu
Or if you are using Burnaware, there is an icon in the disc palette "burn image" which is exactly an iso burn to disc. See screenshot. Select, navigate to where your iso image file is located, select it, and set up the burn options before you burn a disc. One constraint applicable to every burn program (including VS) is the burn rate setting: make sure that you do NOT try to burn the disc faster than it is made for. For example, if the DVD blank is a 16x disc, set the burn rate for 16x or lower if 16x is not in the rate menu. Many burner programs default to MAX, and if that rate is higher than the disc itself, the burner buffers will overload and the data on disc is corrupted. Makes a good beer coaster.
