Very nice...my impressions of VideoStudio 8 so far

Captured about 60 minutes worth of baby/family photos off of two tapes. Played with the program for about 3 or 4 hours this weekend and it works great. I love it! Burned two DVD discs with no problem.

One tape, I used the auto video maker thing where it slices it up and puts transitions and stuff automatically. I went back into edit mode and did a little editing and added some titles and a little music and stuff. Not bad.

The second one I did from scratch...captured, edited, added transitions and titles.

I find the program very easy to use. Never crashed once, and with a 2400MHz, 256MB machine, it ran fine. The occasional minor slowdown, but 98% of the time, it worked perfectly.

A couple of observations:

Adding music and mixing it is a snap...but I'm guessing it makes the files huge?

The animated titles are nice, but I found you have to do the animated one, then do an exact copy of it for a few seconds without animation afterward for a few seconds otherwise you can't read it.

During the capture phase, the screen shows the time/date info below the preview window. I wish the program showed this information during the editing mode (it's there, but you have to look at the library clip (I think if you hover over it, the info appears or something)). Trying to go back and put images in sequence (this was his 2nd month birthday, this was his 3rd, etc.) is a bit difficult if the information isn't easy to see.

But when I do a video capture on my project, edit/assemble it, is there an easy way to designate specific chapters when I burn my DVD? I may have 40 or 50 segments, but it all becomes one chapter at the end.

Also...what's the difference between DV1 and DV2?
