Brand new gaming system. VS says "Cannot render HEVC" Why?

Post by jungleexplorer »

So I just bought a new system. It has the latest hardware, but when I try to render to HEVC, I get the this message.

"Your system does not currently meet the requirements for HEVC. Check
the compatibility of your graphics card and that you are running the
the latest version of the Windows 10 operating system."

I turned off all hardware acceleration and still no joy. What is the problem?

System Specs.

As asik says, you must install the HEVC codec from MS. I did and now can deal with H.265... It doesn't come automatically as part of VS.

Thanks, guys. I remember this now. I had my old computer so long (just kept upgrading the hardware), I had forgotten I needed these. It would be nice if VS would just say this instead of blaming the graphics card or Windows. I went to the Microsoft Store, and I already own the HEVC extension package, so at some time I bought it. I have the vaguest memory of buying it now that I see it. Guess the old brain is wearing out. LOL!

Thanks for the help.
