PSP 2021-- what a mess
yesterday I ordered the special bundle of PSP 2021 Ultimate and Video Studio Ultimate 2020 for $59.99.. I downloaded it to my Desktop.. and what I was greeted with was not what I expected.. a totally new look to PSP.. the user-friendly experience I have always found with using PSP was now gone..a disaster in my opinion.. didn't like it.. in addition while downloading Video Studio Ultimate it decides to place itself on another SSD drive with no way of having the option to change the placement of the download.. after 30 minutes of PSP 2021 I had enuff.. 'change for the sake of change' for me is not what I wanted.. after upgrading year after year to PSP since the early days of JASC I finally said.. enuff was enuff.. I immediately removed any and all of the downloads then called Cleverbridge and got my refund.. they were very good about it.. I guess I'll just have to stay with using PSP 2020 and continue to use LR for my RAW pics with PS as a backup along with the Photography subscription.. to say it was a big disappointment is putting it mildly

Have you tried to switch the PSP 2021 workspace to Complete? In PSP 2021 they added a couple of new workspaces and they changed which one shows as the default. The Complete workspace is still there, you just have to select it (and optionally make it the default one).
PS. Can't help with VideoStudio though (don't have it).

Re: PSP 2021-- what a mess
Well as for Video Studio the download and Installation is done by a small file "VideoStudio2020_Installer.exe" at 6.977Kb
similar to a Download Installer manager
It does allow us to choose a download location otherwise the desktop is used
We can also choose an installation folder although I would recommend the default location
The total size for the ultimate version being 6.7 Gb
Run the Installer file again to view the options, you can always close, although your serial number may no longer work, so test with a trial version

Re: PSP 2021-- what a mess
as I said I UNINSTALLED the entire bundle after 30 minutes of aggravation .. the PSP 2021 would not keep the Complete Workspace as a default as many times as I tried to re-enter it as a new option.. would only stay in the new Photography Workspace.. I went on to my Laptop a little while ago and downloaded the Trial Version of PSP 2021 .. with PSP 2021 I was able to change the Workspace to Complete and all was good .. I went back to my Desktop and re-tried downloading Video Studio 2020 -- this time the Trial Version.. again it would not let me choose what Drive to d/l it to and automatically d/l to the SSD drive that I have my WIN 10 OS on which is only a 256gb drive.. first time this has ever happened with a program not giving an option to where to d/l it to.. needless to say I uninstalled it again..

In the Settings/Preferences you have to select which editor you want to start with. I don't know the proper names in English, since my PSP is in German, but the setting is shown on this screenshot: https://snipboard.io/zSHCw6.jpg
Out of the box, PSP wouldn't be usable for me either. I have to customize it a lot, which takes maybe one hour. I already wrote a how-to for myself, with all steps to make PSP more or less like it used to be in the past.
Overall, I totally agree, that PSP is a mess. In addition now, that the downloaded installer does not actually contain PSP, just another downloader, which will perform a download in the background of the installation. One has to make a backup of those downloaded files, otherwise one does not really have the full PSP - one would rely on Corel offering the full installation on their servers permanently.

Corel made the downloader change in response to Microsoft Best Practices.

Re: PSP 2021-- what a mess
Could you explain exactly why it is a best practice to provide only a downloader rather than a full installation package? Either way the full installation package has to be available on a server, so it just seems like an extra step for the person downloading the program, not to mention having to find out where the full installation files are downloaded to so that they can be saved for future use. When using only a downloader file there is no instruction as to where the supposed temporary installation files are downloaded to so they can be saved.LeviFiction wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 7:28 pm Corel made the downloader change in response to Microsoft Best Practices.

No idea, ask Microsoft. I'm just repeating what they told me.

Re: PSP 2021-- what a mess
So basically it's just Microsoft dictating that it be used with no explanation as to why it's a best practice, just like they now dictate that their operating system has to go though those auto updates that screw up so many people's computers and/or various programs? And if it's not a "dictate" but a suggestion then it would appear that Corel does not have the backbone to just make its own decisions. Either way, I'm not impressed with either Microsoft or Corel. But then I haven't been for a very long time.

Well, not sure what is going on there. If you decide to give it another try, see if setting Keep Last View under Tabs in the General Preferences help (assuming you then switch to Complete workspace and Exit).stakeout wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 8:36 pm as I said I UNINSTALLED the entire bundle after 30 minutes of aggravation .. the PSP 2021 would not keep the Complete Workspace as a default as many times as I tried to re-enter it as a new option.. would only stay in the new Photography Workspace..
