ok .. I have good news and bad.. I did re-installed windows as a desperate move. Then re-installed Video Studio 2020. I tried the same transition. Unfortunately it still froze. Was not happy.. So just thinking it is not windows, not the studio program.. It is my computer system. Nothing else it could be... So I decided to DISABLE the video card.. (RXT GForce 3060ti). Now running on default video card. The program runs perfectly! No delay on time line..All transitions work perfectly. Now I need to find out how to adjust RTX card to run the studio software. Obviously their is a conflict with the RTX card to the default video card running the program. Unless both were running at same time? Any thought? I will keep playing with it until all is good. I will keep you posted..

Hi
Thanks for the update
Before you disabled the actual graphics card did you deselect the Acceleration options from Preferences F6 - Performance tab, I assume yes, and of course all drivers were upto date.
I do not have a separate graphics card as my profile to the right, seems to work ok for HD video, maybe a little slow with 4K video, but only use those for testing.

Hopefully others on the forums that are using the same graphics could comment.

I have finally solved the problem with my transitions issue in corel studio. I had to resort to the motherboard video graphics. My added gforce card will not work with corel studio. I was hoping that my added card (RTX Gforce )could replace the motherboard default video application. Does anyone know how to adjust the added card to work properly with video studio? (Or replace default motherboard video with added gaming card ..RTXgforce)Otherwise I wasted my money on an expensive card that was recommended to increase performance on all applications. (rendering.. speed..time.. etc for all editing programs). thankyou for help.

sorry for the constant feed backs but desperately looking for answers.. I disabled both video display adapters in device manager.( Microsoft display adapter and rtx gforce ). transitions in video studio still working fine, NO freezing. How is that possible if both disabled. What is still active for studio to work?

So I take it their is no way to switch over to my graphics card instead of the CPU? Or is it my added graphics card (gforce) not compatible with Corel video studio? Sorry for my ignorance on this situation. Learning as I go..I may have to take it in to a technician to see what he can do. Probably expensive just to satisfy my aggravation with the ( transitions freezing) for couple effects. I can always resort to default CPU when editing and over to GForce when rendering etc..

I made another attempt to resolving my freezing transition effects. I visited a tech at a computer depo and he has a reputation of knowing his video editing software etc. We uploaded Corel Studio on his system.( which is most up to date hardware, puts my system to shame) The same issues were happening on his system as well. (freezing) He diagnosed the issue was a compatibility issue with Corel Video Studio and added graphics cards. ( for certain executions) Corel is dedicated to the CPU only( which works very well with effects etc). He mentioned that only solution was to switch to added graphics card when doing large projects or switch to another editing software. ( he mentioned Vegas?) I really wish corel video studio would solve this issue with an update.
Once again thankyou for your support. I will work this out one way or another..

Re: corel video studio freezes

Hi everyone..My question still relates to the past posts I have made. I just been using other options in using Video Studio.. I recently updated my Video Studio with Ultimate 2021 upgrade. I did it for staying up with latest versions, also now new version offers AMD hardware encode acceleration.
Ok I am going to try and explain this right. I have Video Card: NVIDIA GFORCE RTX 3060TI and it is fast and works well....other than when in adding certain effects. (flip and few other transitions.) My computer would freeze for 10 seconds then it would be fine again and continue editing. Even when I go to click on these few transitions my program would lock for 10 seconds. When I just drag these few transitions to timeline then I am fine. When I execute the video with these certain transitions while editing it would continue to play but as soon as I move my curser to replay etc, everything would freeze for 10 seconds only.. (again only with certain effects)
Now for the twister in this dilemm, To avoid this issue I am having, I go into the device manager and DISABLE my video card NVIDIA GFORCE RTX 3060TI, then all my transitions run smoothly but rendering would be slower without my added video card. ( ps.. Again most transitions work great with my added video card but the few eg. flip.. folding box...flying cube...flying board.. seem to be the more dramatic effects that take more processing seems to cause the program to freeze.
So I am assuming my NVIDIA GFORCE RTX 3060TI has a hard time rendering these certain transitions apposed to the default CPU.. Does anyone know how to tweak my GFORCE RTX 3060TI to handle these transitions more smoothly? I dont want to keep disabling it to render these effects all the time and i like using these transitions etc..I want to take full advantage of my GFORCE RTX 3060TI.
I hope I made some kind of sense with my explanation in my dilemma. Hope someone can make sense of something. thankyou..

This problem cannot be solved.
I brought this up with Corel a few years ago, but
The answer is no problem. in the library
Same symptom when selecting that transition and playing it.
You just have to wait a few seconds to use it.
It's not a computer problem.

Thank you for your feed back. So I take it Corel Video Studio doesn't shake hands well with added video cards. Only utilizing the CPU for operating smoothly. Understand.. thnx again..

This same behaviour occurs in VS2019 when using the Flip transition on a system with a RTX 3080 and an AMD CPU, and on a system with a GTX 1070 and an Intel CPU, i.e. it's not a problem with the RTX 3XXX series. However, it doesn't happen with the Crossfade transition so clearly this is a bug that's been around for awhile.

Hi, back again, just reading forums, catching up. I again still have the freezing transitions as per last few discussions. I have found another interesting investigation. I have noticed when I re-install fresh VS 2021 and begin my project right away.( not closing VS when freshly installed) All my troubles are solved. No freezing! and crashing! My transitions ( ones prior mentioned) do not freeze! I can get thru a project problem free.. BUT.. Guess what, when I close VS and reboot it.. All my troubles come back!.. tried several times with no avail. So to prove I'm not going crazy.. I uninstalled VS again.. reinstalled fresh..Guess what! All my troubles disappeared. Again I close VS and reboot and troubles come back.. I also open task manager to see how my CPU and GPU are handling this program.. Always high power usage but was told that is for running on battery concerns only..But wondering if it is a concern? Also I see the CPU is usually showing high or more usage compared to GPU.. both fluctuate.. So again something is still not shaking hands when rebooted compared to working perfectly re- installed. I want my GPU to take more control also. I have to state.. With everything I have tried and noticed.. VS does work with well when freshly re-installed, something changes when I shut VS down after a fresh install and then re-boot. Does anyone understand what changes in VS having this freezing of transitions come back? PS.. when I disable graphics card in devise manager then all problems go away, but I want graphics card running to handle rendering etc..Thats why I installed it.. Anyway, I'm still crying the blues over this and WILL hopefully find a solution.. Thanks all and hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.. Cheers
