Preview only showing Green in Edit Mode on 2020 Ultimate

Post by Shermanmanman »

I cannot view a preview of a video clip while working in the timeline - I am only able to see the content of the clip when I select the "Enlarge" option to preivew the video clip. When I am playing back the clip in the preview window, I either get a mix of green or pink bars, or solid green/pink.

When I select "Enlarge" under the preview window, the clip plays back just fine. If I am working with the preview window in it's normal size, I can pause and scrobble through the timeline and see frames just fine. Only when it's playing back in the normal size is when the issue appears.

I am not certain if it's an encoding issue of the video clips (currently MP4) or if there is a setting missing/not set properly. Any thoughts on what needs to change, or if I'm missing something? Attached images to help illustrate what I'm seeing.

Shermanmanman
and welcome to the forums

Right click the clip on the timelines and select properties, what are they?

I recall other posts with a similar issue, one poster deselected the Hardware Acceleration option via (F6) Preferences – Performance, seemed to help.

Might be ghosting this thread sorry, but it was the first thing that came up when I had the same problem with Corel Video Studio, and I wanted to confirm that Trevor's solution worked.

I had the same issue - a green image when previewing in 'edit' mode. I went to Preferences, and I disabled all 'Hardware Acceleration' options, and it rectified the issue.

I had not experienced this previously, using the same video. What it may have been caused by is that I recently replaced my old GPU with a new one, and I switched from NVIDIA to AMD. As such, the software may still be trying to find the old information. Certainly there may be something here in suggesting some form of 'Wizard' for the studio for setup, but perhaps that is for another thread.

I have only had the same thing happen to me in recent days. I get all pink or all green with no discernible reason for the color choice. Moreover, it only affects a couple of my clips, both of which are HD mp4. My system -- both CPU and GPU, is AMD as you'll see from my Profile over to the right. I found that if I disabled just hardware decoder acceleration, the color disappeared. For some strange reason, again unexplained, hardware encoder acceleration caused me no problem.
