Review of Corel Video Studio

Post by Radim »

Hello,

I plan to upgrade my video editor and one of possible choice is VideoStudio 2021 Pro. I looked around and found some not optimistic reviews, as this - https://www.videohelp.com/software/Ulead-Videostudio. It there some better alternative? More stable, but still simple as VS? ...MAGIX, Sony? Thank you.

VS2021 isn't available for sale yet, so how did they review it?

For course there are better alternatives if you're making Hollywood feature films, want faster rendering, etc. However, without explaining how you'd use a NLE, it's pointless to suggest anything.
You've found negative reviews but they don't always tell how your experience will be. For example, https://www.pcmag.com/ rates VS2020 as one of its 10 ten picks for the "Best Video Editing Software for 2020".

Perhaps you should get the trial version of VS2020 and experience it yourself or read through this forum as people have taken the time to describe their experience with the SW.

VS biggest selling point was once it's simple user interface and simplicity to use. The reviews covered that. But for the last few years corel has been adding functionality and as a result in some modes of use, it's become very unstable. That seems to vary from version to version, and there does seem to be some element of hardware influence in it; some users are more affected than others. The comments by Robertoz in the first review say it all - the beta testers have pleaded for a stability focus, fix out standing bugs et al before newer features; ignored they usually are.
