Roto Pen animation issue

Post by Ken Veal »

I have had this issue with Roto Pen for a long time , have done done a search in the forum, saw no answer so here goes anyway .As far as I can see, there is no option to have the walking symbols to show from left to right.I tried taking a screenshot of the walking symbol and created a mirror image of it so it faces the other way.I then removed the background to make it transparent as a .png image in Paint Shop Pro.
I could use this image in Roto Pen but it did not animate and had a faint white background.Own car images did work so perhaps I was hoping too much for animation.

I don't see the problem!
On the screen where you select the walking symbols select "retrace route" and choose the image pointing to the right ... Man/Woman will walk facing to the right.

Following your post, I revisited Roto Pen to investigate. Without reading the tutorial I wrongly assumed the reset route applied only to cars as shown and not “or symbol” as mentioned.
“Hover your mouse over the different options and it will show you how your chosen symbol will follow the path and also the direction the car or symbol will face”
Perhaps if I only saw arrows and no icons (cars) my perception would have been different. So thanks for the reply, I am now in control of the situation.
