Facebook banner templates need to be Edited

Post by twiggyann »

I just bought in November both ultimate template bundles for PSP so that I could have the facebook banner templates. Unfortunately, last week, FB changed the way that they layout the banner so now all the templates need to be edited since they have an area on the lower left of the banner that it blocked out for the profile picture. That profile picture has now been moved to the center and is round now instead of square. I can live without having a spot blocked out for the profile picture so I'm not interested in setting up a spot in the middle bottom for it. I just really need to figure out how to get rid of the blocked out space in the lower left.

Can anyone point me to instructions or a tutorial without having to redo these templates from scratch? I mean I just paid $150 for someone else to do the work.

Below is an example of the old template being used on my personal FB page with the new layout.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Lesley

For that particular template (can't believe they're charging $2 for that thing)

1) Open up the template
2) Turn off or delete the top layer "Promoted Selection" as it's not needed. It's a tiny grey border around the image
3) Select the layer named "Template" This is the white border around the image and is also the white square. You can verify this by hiding it.
4) Make a selection around the square, make sure feathering is turned off. I made my selection slightly larger than the square on the top and sides, but had to play with the bottom portion to get it just right so the border was flat.
5) Hit "Delete" to remove the white square. Don't remove the selection yet.
6) Go to the "Image 2" group, then select the mask inside the group.
7) Use the fill tool, to fill the selection with White on the mask layer

You are now done and the white area should show through just fine. I have recorded the a video showing these steps. As a last step in the video I fill the selection with Grey to show you that the area can now be filled but that's unnecessary.

LeviFiction, I sure hope you're still on the forums. I'm so sorry I didn't respond to this. Thank you so much for taking the time to give me the information. It really was and still is appreciated.
