Cloning alignment

Post by jazon »

Hello, I have two images which are the same size and proportions. One is colour and the other black and white. As an example lets say the image is a rainbow. Same photo but one is bnw.

I have both images opened in PSP2021 as separate images, two tabs. One colour, one bnw.

When I select the clone tool and right click to select the clone source on the colour image then go to the bnw image and start to clone into the image the image being cloned is not aligned even though they are both the same size, proportions.

Does anyone know how to align so the cloning point is the same?

Thank you.

Use the Untabbed mode (Window/uncheck Tabbed Documents).
Copy one image above the other (Ctrl+C for copy the first image, and Paste as New Layer on the second image).
In the Layers Palette, deactivate the Visibility of the first layer (click on the Eye icon).
Switch between Activate and Deactivate: you will see if both images are exactly aligned.

PS: when you say "they are the same size and proportion", I suppose you mean Pixels size and not Inches size. If Inches, both images must have the same PPI.

Thank you. Yes the same proportion as in pixel size. The only was I can get it to work is if I zoom in and right click a source point a small dot, corner or something then go to the other image and start to clone from that same dot, corner but it has to be exact otherwise it is misaligned.

The exact position of the cursor is displayed bottom right (x and y values). It may help.
