VideoStudio has Stopped Working...

Post by ehbowen »

I've been a VideoStudio user since the ULead days, but back in April I purchased a second license for VSUltimate 2020 so that I could (legally!) edit on one computer while rendering on another. My main editing computer is involved in a render operation right now which will take some time (100 GB of lossless AVI as the source...), and I'd like to work on another project on the second computer. But, VS is very slow to start up and when it does start up all I get is the "Welcome" screen; if I try to go into "Edit" mode or open a project the program locks up completely.

Here's the System Info:
Corel VideoStudio Build Information:

OEM ID: 9

Available Physical Memory 27.62 GB
Total Paging Memory 36.70 GB
Available Paging Memory 30.94 GB
Total Managed Memory 387 MB

Video Driver Information:

Resolution 1920 x 1080

Operating System Information:
Operating System Windows 10

Plug-in Information

Transitions Plug-ins Loaded 138

I have tried rebooting the machine, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the software with a fresh download from the Corel web site. No help. I have made no hardware or major software changes to this computer, other than regular Windows updates, since the last time when I used it and it was working. I have good malware protection (Comodo/Itarian) and I'm running a virus scan right now to be sure. No other programs are exhibiting any kind of issue or problem. What's my next move?

Sorry you are having problems can you try this

Launch Video Studio to the Welcome Screen
Then Settings Preferences (F6)
The Default Startup Page uses WelcomeBook change that to Edit
Now reboot the program allowing it to start in Edit.

Even so unusual that the program should crash.

If that continues.........
As the program froze during launch you may be best to reset by renaming/deleting the 23.0 folder
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)

By the way, just tried to run the program again. It opened to the edit screen, after making the Preferences change, but the first time I tried to insert a video file to the Timeline it locked up and froze again. I haven't tried moving and renaming the folder yet; I think I'll submit a support ticket and see if they have any suggestions. (One benefit of being a registered user...)
