Hi All,
For whatever reason, a lot of VideoStudio .dat files are on my desktop. Do these go in a certain folder or can I delete them?
A couple months back I had to uninstall/reinstall VidStu so I'm not sure if they might be from the first install, however, I searched for a few of them on my computer to see if there were duplicates, but there were none. I've been so busy I've left them as is, but I'd like to clean up my desktop. VS is working fine.
Here's a list of the files:
There are also two other files:
AFilter.rsa & VFilter.rsf
UPDATE: I seem to have the program installed twice... not sure. There's a huge folder on the Desktop called "VideoStudio2020" and I'm guessing it has all the bonus features/programs, PaintShop, etc. whereas the one in Program files (x86) is MUCH smaller and seems to only be VideoStudio2020. See pic below:
Any advice is appreciated.
Don

I was able to found those files from following path:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2020\Ulead.dat
So looks like your installation has been not went as expected. I recommend to remove VS totally, and remove these files and folders as well. And then do a reinstallation, and be careful when it is asking into where the new setup will be installed.

Thanks Pepi, kind of figured this is where things were headed but I thought it worth asking. Thanks for your response.

Re: Where can I move VS dat files on my desktop?
Hi McMP
When we first run the stub to download the program installation files, for Video Studio by default saved to a folder on our desktop.
The folder is called "VideoStudio2020”
Within this folder you should see 64bit, Common and StandardContent2 along with an installer file ( Stub) maybe called VideoStudio2020_Installer at 6,977kb.
It is this file that is used to install the program, think of it as download / installation Manager.
I normally choose a different download folder on my D Drive but that is just personal choice.
Whilst running the stub we can choose an installation location, most use the default location on the C Drive which will use this folder
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2020 – does this folder exist.
The problem is where those Dat files came from, as your image you say are on the desktop.
It does seem that you chose a different installation folder selecting the desktop?
Or have you installed to the default locations.
Can you confirm
You also mention PSP, have you purchased the Video Studio PSP bundle?

Re: Where can I move VS dat files on my desktop?
Thanks for the reply, Trevor. Yes, I purchased the bundle.
I'm a musician and am a bit nuts for Cmas Eve right now (all outdoors and socially distanced, of course). In the short term, I mostly wanted to take the time to say thank you. I'll take a harder look as soon as I can because I think I have it installed in C:/Programs etc as well. Not sure what happened. I'm usually very careful about clicking the right things in an install because I'm always trying to avoid bloatware, toolbars, etc. It sometimes takes the program forever (4 minutes or so) to load, sometimes not (more likely background processes on my PC). Maybe I have 2 installs which it doesn't like. Anyway, more soon.
My best,
Don
